Theoretically, I am sure that is true.

My last Elegia was NIB and the drivers did loosen up after 100-150 hours. Not trying to promote burn-in where it is not desired, but there was a noticeable difference with them or in my head. Either way it was to the positive.

The exact same thing happened here. I was not overly impressed with them at first. But after 4 days I mind was completely changed. I’m definitely keeping mine.

Yes they sounded great on Saturday and will play again on Sunday.

On Monday begins the battle to the death! Elegia vs the T5’s.

Two days on the system and then two days on portable gear. On Friday the loser goes up for sale!

I had the exact same thing with a used pair of Elegia’s

Totally agree, physical/mechanical burn in may contribute in a very, very small way but the biggest thing is definitely adjusting to a new sound signature.

I went from hating the Elegia’s to loving them in the space of 4-5 days and that experience made me realise 1st impressions are totally biased based on a ton of different factors.

I think they are the best value for money in headphones at the moment.

And they have incredible isolation! I thought the T5’s were good, but they have a very tight clamp. My wife can be two feet away, talking normally and I don’t hear a word.
Definitely the most isolating closed back I ever heard. :+1:

Wait, do you not hear her talking without music or while playing music?

With the music playing. Even in between songs it is very quiet.

I figured. Elegia’s one of those HPs that I need to give a 2nd chance.

interesting maybe I should’ve given them more of a chance didn’t care for them initially, threw them on my burn in tablet for 3 days tried them again and still didn’t care for them so I ended up returning them

I’ve been in and out of Elegias 4x ……I grabbed a 20th aniversary edition with a nice cable and for 300 euros used these fuckers are easily the best value in their price range. Wont be selling this set……passing onto the kiddos

Damn, where did you get them? It can be hard finding a bargain in the EU, US usually doesn’t ship to us so we have to rely on more local offerings.

I would guess used.

I got mine for $379.00US, but the landed cost was well over $600.00 in Canadian dollars.

Headfi or wallapop here in Spain. Yeah EU vs US shit pisses me off just watched like 3x Gungnir Multibit sell for like 7-900 USD and a MJ2 for 600!!! Just paid near 1700 euros for same thing over here…it was my old set-up so know all the history…and have a nice tube collection going on.

I didn’t experience any kind of burn in, mental or mechanical, but after just a few hours I knew they would not go out of my collection.

Taking the mechanical part aside, I think the Elegia does some subjective tricks that other headphones don’t in this price bracket. Like the macrodynamics and that sweet bass linearity all the way down. I think this things blow our minds which are not used to this.

But hey, that’s just my opinion.

Same experience. It takes almost as much time for the brain to burn into a new set of cans as the cans take to burn in themselves.

Avoid the NeoMusica cables, very microphonic. Much worse than Focal stock cables.

I avoid NeoMusica cables because they’re microphonic AND cheap. I had a NeoMusica balanced cable crap out on me after three DAYS of use.

Audiophile Ninja makes fantastic cables at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

if you don’t mind a thicc cable anyways

I don’t mind when it’s as well built and has as low microphonics as Jeremy’s stuff at Audiophile Ninja. I’m also intrigued by the interconnect system used in Hart cables.
