🔷 Focal Elegia

No, I think I am pretty good for now.

But I am glad to see them back. To me, they are a must have for the Elegia. I have stopped all thought of looking for a used Celestee or Radiance.

Guess my hunt is over for these pads

I agree these pads are a must have for Elegia owners.
Even though it’s now called “custom series”. I got the original “limited edition” but I would believe they are the same pads?

they are the same pads, since they were popular enough they decided to make more after their initial batch sold out

Well, I went ahead and picked up a pair of these this evening. Should be interesting, I really like the Elegia as is.

Put my Elegia’s on today to continue testing my new amp (LD MK9). Great sound. Sylvania driver tube with outstanding mids and above. Going through lots of golden oldies today and am now into some Freddie Hubbard. With the Stellia pads, these really are a nice all-rounder. :+1:

I got home from work this evening, and there be pads here!

I’m impressed by how fast they got here. I’m also impressed by how well made they are. I’m impressed by how easy it was to do the swap. And what they have done to these cans, sound wise? You guessed it - Impressed.

There is a really good seal being created. I noticed the enhancement of the bass right away. There is definitely more punch and slam, but it’s not sloppy. seems like the “bubble” that surrounds you is slightly bigger, too. There appears to be more overall energy in the presentation. And they look good. To be honest, I love the stock pads but they were already starting to show a bit of wear. So these cans look brand new again. This is very cool.

I really wish the industry would come up with some standardised attachment for pads. We shouldn’t have to rely on Dekoni to fix our headphones any more than we should need iFixit to fix our phones.

AND the connectors! I have just ordered my sixth or seventh Hart cable to accommodate yet another connection type.

bring forth the 4.4mm headphone sockets :joy:

I for one welcome our new insect overlord.
I think that SIZE termination would be lovely on a lot of things. An easy single-sided balanced connection as desired. The headphone comes with a little handful of termination adapters for amp-side. Imagine.

I would like to know an honest comparison between the two.
Especially focusing on overall resolution (if there is a noticeable difference), soundstage and instrument separation.

Well its not exactly a fair comparision, you are putting a 150$ vs a 400$ (currently, previously i think it was 700$) headset. But the Elegia would blow it out of the water in 99% of cases, the Elegia can be summed up in two words clear and energetic, the SV2001 are warm and gooey

So in that aspects focal is better?
In my country focal elegia on amazon cost 1300€. One moths ago cost 470€ in a flash offer.

Yes its much better but like i said its unfair to compare them because of the price difference, you can order the SV0021 via Aliexpress for much less

In Germany, I found Amazon to often be among the most expensive shops. Maybe ask in a local hifi-shop for what price they can offer one.

Also getting it from Adorama or Amazon US might be a good idea

I’ve noticed the Amazon price seems to yo-yo between €500 and €1200. I would hazard a guess it’s Amazon changing the default seller when the €500 one goes out of stock.
