I have never seen them at that price. I bought mine over a year ago when they dropped to $600.00. $500.00 for these would be a screaminā deal, IMO.
I rmb in Black Friday last year it was 550USD. The Drop refurbished section had it for around the same price too

Does anyone think that itās possible to make yourself a voice coils for the elexās oh anyone knows what gauge wires does the voice coil use?
So referb elex came in the mail today. Iām a little bummed the right driver is DOA. Hopefully Drop will take care of me.

That really sucks, I really hope things go well with Dropās customer service. I also bought my Elex as a refurb from Drop and I fortunately havenāt had any problems so far.

I got a referb pair in with only minor cosmetic blemish on 1 grill. Good sound. Really digging how clear the treble and upper mids are for a dynamic, it has sibliance but due to the snappy transients it is very tolerable for me. They decoded the lyrics for staying alive so thatās an accomplishment in my book LMAO! Also they do really well with well mastered, prog rock, orchestral, vocals etc. Very versatile and trades blows with my 95x while being different and still fun/neutral.

I agree that the separation on it is super impressive! Was able to hear overlapping vocals super well. Dang I do miss my elex. Iāll hawb to get some clears later lol

Yepp separation is good, it has good dynamics and it is solid with everything I have thrown at it. Instrument and audio ques are very wrap around your head, like these stage really nicely. I love these being a companion to my 95x, I may sell my Nighthawks sometime, but I will try to hold on to them as my change of pace LOL. May continue to appreciate in value too so who knows.

For sure. Pluz hawks will remain valuable as they are no longer in production! So lovely. I currently have 3 Nighthawks lol. Kinda started collecting them

Iāve seen the clear on sale for about 1k. So would you say itās worth the extra $400 at that price over the Elex?
Iām also little concerned about the QC issues. Clears have a 3 year warranty as opposed to the 1 year from DROP.
Iād say its worth it, but it depends on the DAC and amp you have as well. I like both headphones but the Clear is the better of the two. How much better? Dependsā¦

Finally got my refurbished referbed elex from drop. I had to send them back due to a dead driver but hey they were $500 bucks with a warranty. For the short time Iāve listened to them tonight all I have to say is these things are stupidā¦in a good way specially for the price. Still judging them but they might dethrone my Aeon RT as one of my more comfortable go to headphones.

i swear 50% of all elex have a dead driver. my first pair had one on arrival too.
Yeah Iām wondering if itās a drop thing or focal thing. Either way Iām glad drop doesnāt have an issue taking care of their customers
Iād be surprised if the agreement between Drop and Focal was for Drop to perform QA checks themselves. For some reason, Focal really seems to not care about the Elex or something. A while ago there was also the controversy of the Elex replacement pads having no consistency and being way off spec. That ended up taking Drop more than a year to resolve.
