new clears ?
What exactly happened to your Elex?
Right driver died after a year. Drop then sent me a used broken pair as a replacement. They ignored my emails for about a week and didnāt do anything until after I made a reddit post that had over 500 upvotes on it.
Iām sorry to hear that.
Drop can be a hit or miss like that.
I keep seeing the Elex in the A Tier List.
Before the right driver went out, what was your opinion of the sound quality?
well seems like im going to wait for the new clear, look so good and finally a new cable, it double the price of the elex but i canāt take the risk and effort to ship them to Europe only to find out i need to send them back , thanks a lot !
They sounded very good. Basically a Clear just sounds more clear than the Elex. They are just a bit more technically proficient but you get most of what makes the Clear great in the Elex.
My 2Ā¢ - just sold off Focal Stellia and picked up BOTH an Elex and Elear for 1/3 the price. Stellia is better but you get 95-97% of the way there with the substantially cheaper pieces.
Again I got Two sets of cans (one work and one home) in different color schemes ( they are the same machine with different pad sets) and an extra ~1200 euros in my pocket for what I sold the Stelliaās forā¦no brainer for me.
Well at least you can buy the Elex. They donāt even ship to where I live haha
But I wouldnāt since Dropās customer service treated me like crap. Used Clears should be popping up soon.
Yeah. Iāve heard about how terrible it is. I think it is better not to risk headphones that are known to have reliability problems with drop
You would need ātransport serviceā in that case.
Think it took like 7 months but i have em.
how does transport service work?
Keep in mind that the problems have been rare but of course criticism is always louder than praise. The Elexās are just about my favourite headphone.
I have used Drop many times and had some disappointments with cancelled runs and one unit had to be replaced and then that item was returned. Excellent service all the way through.
Not to dispute anyone elseās experience, but if a lot of their stuff broke and service was overall terrible, they wouldnāt still be in business.
My experience has been generally positive, the mess with the Elex pads where focal shipped out 1 pad per order, is a good example, took months to resolve (not much drop could do about that), but they ate the entire cost of the pads, which they probable didnāt need to do if they had required a return for the refunds.
They wonāt let you cancel orders once an order has been placed with a manufacturer.
They often donāt have additional stock for replacements.
Those are just a part of the model, collect the money upfront and pay to have something manufactured.
you just have to go in with those expectations.
If itās something that requires special manufacturing, itāll often overrun, itās usually more of an issue with first run Drop exclusive stuff, Kinives and Keycaps can be particularly bad, but the original 789 order was somewhat notorious.
Where do you liveā¦there is a solid 2nd hand market in EU and like I said Elear is the Elex essentially. Just with Clear-like (perforated, shape but black color) pads. I actually grabbed a set of clear pads and a new set of Elex pads to see if I can spot the differenceā¦dark room, same cable - partner sets pair on right and left table.
What do you think a half working (one driver not working) is worth? There are a few on eBay. It would be nice to have a spare set of pads and driver. Could be fun to tear it down to see how itās put together also.
I was thinking $250 when there asking $328.
I just bought a working set for $450. Seems like a half working one shouldnāt even go for half that IMO.
Thank you!
Second thisā¦250 is pretty high
