đŸ”¶ Focal Elex

Not the only person who thinks that. Or M0N is an AI chat bot.

I tried developing an AI that could answer headphone questions, I just fed it every conversation I have had with someone on this site. Results were interesting to say the least. I wonder if anyone will find the few posts that were generated by the AI

It’s a trick question, this post is auto-generated.

Unless the AI has become sentient and still has control. Maybe the real mon has been imprisoned by the AI and now the AI is attempting to trick us.

Just an account being used by multiple people maybe?
Always present, always ready. lol

But I was under the impression that M0N was already an IA. He’s capable of responding multiple posts at the same time seconds after the question is asked, it doesn’t matter what hour or day of the week. His tone is always nice but secure and informed. There’s no device he doesn’t know, that’s a pretty big database. I am pretty sure he has been developed by Zeus and DMS to make sure we behave and stay here buying stuff.
I am Okay with that. My only worry is that he could be, in fact, part of Skynet.

I place my bet on “H.A.L. 9000” but for this purpose H.G.M 9000 (hifi guides M0N)

Just to follow up only earlier comments, my DAP (Sony NW-ZX300) cannot drive the Elex’s adequately. I am listening to my system and the first amp up is the XDuoo TA-20. It is sounding Really nice! But these are as open as the HD6XX’s. That might limit their use. My little Grado on-ears limit sound pretty good.

Very clear and a good strong bass. I started with some Florence and the Machine and now I am going to run through a bunch of Trombone Shorty.
I am going to wear these for a week. My amp choices will be in order of least favourite to most favourite:

  1. XDuoo TA-20 via SE
  2. Schiit Vali 2 via SE
  3. Cavalli LCX via XLR
  4. SP200 via XLR
  5. Liquid Spark via SE
  6. Burson Fun-Classic. I have actually banished this unit to the office for technical problems, but I am really missing it.

Much happier today than I was last night in regards to this unit. I am going to dedicate the next several days to these beauties. It really is cool to get an XLR cable included.

Awesome! Interesting that you like it so much with the Liquid Spark. I suppose the warmer sound makes it more ‘fun’. I’m interested in trying the elex on a LS too since my Archel is more analytical sounding, and some would say boring (to which I would disagree). Keep the updates coming!

If you check drop, the last 4 reviews complained of receiving a unit that had a nonfunctional left driver or the left driver died after some time. Wish they would fix this problem.

I haven’t actually heard them from the LS yet, as it is not plugged in right now. They have actually sounded very nice from the XDuoo and Schiit amps. I then grabbed the XLR cable and tried the SP200. Hmmm on that one. Tomorrow morning is SP200 and LCX via XLR.

By Friday, I will cycle through all four amps that are currently hooked up.

Friday night/Saturday I will hook up the LS and Burson amps.

So far, mine seem perfect

I don’t want to worry you, just odd the last 4 all had the same complaint.

If you buy from Drop, they are pretty good at taking care of you. They generally ship out a replacement right away as soon as the tracking shows the return is in transit.

I forgot, did anyone ever confirm if the Elear and Elex are the same headphones with different pads?

have not confirmed it, but apparently the dampening on the driver is different.

No, the elear is not great and with elex pads it still sounds not the best. The elex is a different headphone

I just wanted to pop up and say please listen to Mon and FBizzle and others when they say that the Clear isn’t worth upgrading from the Elex if you are going to run it on a meh amp. They don’t sound bad, but compared to Elex they sound BORING. I don’t know how else to describe it. Music is there, but no engagement for me coming out of my Fiio m6.

Everyone tried to warn me, but I always just have to find out for myself hehe.
The theory was that they would sound better due to the face that the m6 can actually drive them better than the Elex, but it doesn’t matter. They are just boring with meh amplification.

Other said it first. I’m just saying please listen to them. They really are smart folks who know what they’re talking about. lol

They become not boring with the proper amp lol, so the clear cost around like 500 + more once you factor in a good amp, vs like the elex which work very well off of a magni heresy or liquid spark or btr5 or something

So far I am really liking them with the Cavalli LCX and the XDuoo TA-20 via XLR.

The LCX is fine as is the Schiit Vali 2.

Relating to MON’s earlier comment:
If you take the Beyer T5p.2’s and EQ them by adding some bass and removing some treble you end up with a Focal Elex.

Really enjoying the sound as time goes on. New amps being added tomorrow night or Saturday.
