I am not sure I understand the term dynamic, but the more I think about it I more I think that is what I hear. It is similar to the brightness of the Beyers, but more of an all over thing. Every note is loud and proud. I do like it, but it is different. Tonight I was using my Grado’s and it was a BIG difference from the Elex’s.
Lots of Elex on ebay. Are there specific batches that should be avoided or is it going to be a gamble no matter what? Would it be less risky to go for the Clear, in terms of getting a good unit?
I dont think its too much of a gamble. Just make sure the seller has a number of sales under his belt and a good rating. As a matter of fact if someone has been listening to it for a while it shows its a good manufactured headphone and free of defect. also its usually burned in for you. If you get it damage you can usually get ebay or paypal to help you out. if it breaks a few months down the line you can always send it in to Focal to get repaired. might not be too expensive.
Good luck with that bid! I do see a lot in the 350~ range so it must really be the right price in the 2nd hand market. So its looking like a new Sundara or a used Elex.
@Antpage2 - so Focal will service the Elex via local Focal Distributor considering they dont sell it directly? Do Focals normally come with international warranties?
Weirdly enough the comments for the pads on drop from today show people saying they only received one pad and not a pair of pads. (Only a left or right pad.)
