Getting out of hand?

Exactly! Never pay for any headphone accessory an amount equal to another headphone.

So 18 rb42s and a bookshelf is out of the question?

THAT would get me thrown out of the house

Yes! You’re about to have a huge tangle of wire!

Nothing wrong with the number of cans.

rofl i see im not the first one to encounter this problem

Maybe stop toying with headphones and get some speakers?
You could bang a few nails to a wall, as in cheap headphone “stand”.

The only wrong with that picture is that they are not organised on stands.

During the peak of my madness, this was my collection of over ears. I now am down to about 4 sets I use often. I sold the rest. Don’t really miss any of them too much, although must admit the new low price in the Nighthawks has me pondering getting a pair again. Their sound is divisive I know, but they were one of the two most comfortable sets I owned (the others being the Mr Speakers).

They’re $250 on Amazon now, the Nighthawk Carbon. My favorite headphones.

all I can say is slow down and take time to actually enjoy and get bored with what you have before buying anything else. unless of course you catually want something that is on a good sale.

Wow, you are worse than me! That is why I made a pledge for 2020.

I bought a cabinet several months ago. I then bought glass shelves on top for hardware, there is a drawer for cables and what nots and then the whole cabinet interior is for holding 'phones. I thought about stands and stuff, but then everything would get dusty.

Say it with me “I must streamline, I must streamline, I must…”

There was some upper end stuff for sure. TH900, Mr Speakers Ether, LCD2s. I just realized I didn’t need it all. I miss switching through all of the different sound signatures. But with some it was a matter of they weren’t comfortable to wear ( the Kennerton Vali were the worst there), or I just fell out of love with the sound ( the Ethers). I kept the 1990s, the DT770s, the Fidelio X2s, and not much else. I’ve since gotten into Chifi and it’s much easier on my wallet.

Wow, you went from one extreme to the other.
You list in interest in the 900’s?

I did like the sound of the 900’s, the comfort of the factory pads is not so great. They kind of always felt loose when wearing. I also had a pair of the TH610’s and they were kind of the same as far as feeling loose. If I were to do it all over again I’d hold out until I could get a chance to hear some of them before buying. One other thing, I never paid full price for any of them. Except for the LCD2’s, that was before I discovered you could get new or like new for a few hundred less most of the time. Always hold out for either a sale, or the used market from a trusted seller.

Thinking back on it, I miss the Hifiman 400i as much as anything. I had those and a pair of the 560’s. Didn’t think the 560’s were much better sounding to be honest, but did enjoy the 400i for the quality sound at a low price. FWIW I never had any quality issues with either set, might have been lucky there seeing all of the problems others have had with the brand.

The 560s really craved power, you really wanted more than the 400 for the 560 to get them to sound better

I hear you on the sloppy fit. I recently got the TH-610’s and they just flop around on my head. I watched a Zeos review and he had a fatter pair of pads (Brainwavs I think) that might tighten up the fit.

Only HiFiman I have ever had is the HE4X and the build quality was A-OK. However, the sound quality was so bad I would never consider another of HiFiman ever, at any price point.

Happy I was able to reduce my collection down to something a bit more reasonable and modest. Lol. May pick up another over ear at some point but im good for now…
