🔶 GoldPlanar GL2000

Got these in today. Had to let them warm up.

The bass is a little light. Also, the mids are certainly not forward. Maybe a bit recessed?

The treble seems fine, but I am old so I probably don’t hear treble like a young person would.

I am running these on my iFi Pro iCAN, which seems to be my favourite amp for planars. I have the bass set on the middle setting and I never usually go that high. I normally run the 3D sound effects on the middle setting, but I just turned that off and it seemed to improve the sound. The mids (vocals) now seem stronger/more forward.

Lots more playing around to do.

I only listen to my GL2000 on a tube amp. Otherwise they don’t really do it for me. I pull them out for music I want an extreme sound stage, but otherwise they probably get used the least in my collection.

Well, I started with a tube hybrid and then moved on to another tube hybrid. The sound on the LP was great. Test list was amazing!

Unless you bought a used set with good hours on them, I’d say break them in. I had two sets of these and both needed a good burn in. I can’t recall exactly how long but my minimum with any new gear is 100 hours.
