🔶 GoldPlanar GL2000

Kinda sorta.
Dampening has a relation to output power, yes. Think of dampening like the E-breaks on hybrid or electric cars.

How much an amp actually dampens depends more on the way its feedback circuit is set up than power though.

2W or more at 99db sensitivity seems excessive to say the least ^^

Sensitivity is measured at 1kHz, usually lower frequencies need more power.

People are also biased. Can you point to lot of videos where Resolve recommends something headphones.com doesn’t sell? :grinning: Actually that shouldn’t even matter too much. You need to listen yourself, and maybe you will like it or not. Reviews should only point you to the right direction.

This guy also feels good about GL2000 even before most of the hype: https://youtu.be/dlBfTmYBA_g

I think it has more to do with the way planars work. yes you can get high DB output with less power but to get the full dynamics at that sound level the power requirement is higher than most calculators based on dynamic drivers would suggest. i could be wrong.

Anyone know if a Schiit Hel will be good for these? Planning to use them for gaming, music, and watching shows/movies.

Arrival…

Hmm. Am I wrong or do the clears look built better? Love the clears still waiting to add those to my wall.

Will be keeping an eye on your thoughts for this one.

I think it’s the silver color that makes them look cheap to me, I think the single sided look better. Focal is just ooof

Just remember to say goodbye to your amp though before you blow it up…

You cannot safely adapt a single ended headphone cable to a balanced connection. (Shorts out the amp)

I really do like the way it looks. I hope people will make reports comparing it to the Ananda and Arya.

True, but if your amp has a 4-pin XLR out you can safely use this (I’ve used it with my SP 200:
