Act or not, I donât like his style of reviews. The review is as much about him as it is the product. And he rambles on for far too long, with no real structure to his content.
I know Iâm in the minority on Z, and I appreciate his contributions to the community. Just not my thing.
I dont get the hate he gets. He gives his opinion i laugh at the delivery check erins audio corner, ASR for the measurements, make a decision to purchase the component by using one of their links. (Rotate the commision where i can and hit the like buttons ).
Never said I hated Z. Heâs an entertainer. I just prefer to get the information I want and get out. I donât have time to wade through the meandering stories, talk about waifus, etc. Also not a huge fan of the camera-on-head presentation from Z and other reviewers. I like to see human faces, not arms and hands.
Z is talented. He has an audience. He gives what most people want. Props to him!
So just briefly skimming, I do agree the meze are very lacking in technical ability for the money. But I donât think its on the same level as a sundara, Iâd still say itâs a decent step above a sundara lol (although I think thatâs a good example of where his source gear is holding him back, but thereâs much more apparent/extreme cases of that elsewhere)
But disregarding what he thinks about meze, I do think itâs a dick move to specifically call attention to the dankpods guy. After skimming his video, it just seems like a guy who hasnât gotten to try a lot of higher end headphones really enjoying his (who doesnât really review high end audio or anything), so I donât see the reason why crin calls attention to him in a video that is mostly negative. Just seems like an unnecessary dig and trying to start something for no reason
Since youâve briefly skimmed, let me clarify what youâve skimmed over.
I very specifically said that I have no beef with Dankpods, that since he is the most prolific supporter of Meze therefore some may miscontrue my video as starting beef with him. Contrary to the point you are making here, I was actually telling people not to see my video as an âunnecessary digâ at the guy, a point that was made pretty clear to most viewers.
I get that, but regardless if your intentions were not to go after the guy, youâve put him in sort of a spotlight regardless, and I donât think itâs unreasonable to believe there will be someone out there that sees this and hassles him anyways. You can make your message clear that thereâs no malice or ill intentions toward him, but not everyone is going to listen to that. I understand you have no control over what other people do, but just seems like a mention that could have gone without that wouldnât have really changed the video if it wasnât there imo. While most viewers arenât doing to do anything, it only takes a few to cause problems for the other party
Again, if I didnât mention that my video wasnât specifically targeting him, then more people would misunderstand and try to make it a âCrinacle versus Dankpodsâ situation which I want to avoid. And you have to understand that Dankpods is extremely prolific so his fanbase is literally everywhere on YouTube. Misunderstandings can and will happen, especially when talking about a product that he famously endorses.
If I mention and clarify at the start, sure I draw a little more attention to him but at least my intentions were made clear from the very beginning.
To me, option two is the better option. People forget that option one is the alternative.
Fair enough, didnât think about it that way (although I have to wonder if that would really be the case, but itâs likely not worthwhile testing that lol)
i feel like more people would have taken it as a dig at dankpods if it wasnât addressed than if it was, especially youtube audiences which tend to be more speculatory and generally latch onto things they shouldnât, dankpods is also the biggest âaudiophileâ youtuber right now so itâs likely people that watch crin also know who dankpods is and know heâs a big fan of meze products and without the warning i can totally see weirdos on forums (:)) running away with it
Itâs a stretch to call Dankpods an âaudiophile.â Most of the stuff he reviews is consumer-grade gear, such as about 25 vids about the ancient Apple iPod.
Dank has reviewed a few pairs of Grados, Meze Empreyan and Elite, and Nuraphones. Thatâs hardly a murdererâs row of audiophilia. Heâs closer to Marques Brownlee than to an audiophile.
yeah thatâs why i put audiophile in marks, i wouldnât classify him as one either, but there isnât really a term for âindividual who knows a decent amount about audio equipment, but isnât too invested, but does make content related to audio equipment but focuses on entertainment rather than educationâ
still like his content and itâs nice to see audio enthusiasm growing
What studio monitors are the mixers playing back the recording. The argument for flat speakers is to hear whats on the recording good or bad, no ? So if the artist signed off on the mix from their phone and it sounds like shit on a your flat speaker thats what the flat speaker person wants to hear for better or worse. If you got a non-flat speaker that plays anything the way you like, good on you. Evrybody happy ?
Getting back to the artist and mixer, the artist which approves the release by what they heard on the phone or in the car, it is safe to say the artist only cares about the loudness, so mixer turns up the levels and the were off to the races in the loudness war.
The only recourse for the listener to obtain good recordings is to sift through the audio forums for community feedback by informed listeners and working sound engineers, one would suspect.
Listening to sound mixers youtubes, some of them agree that mixing in ATMOS strikes another death blow to terrible mixed recordings. So for me its a great time in audio.
