That explains it.

Hi Zeos. You enjoy them very much, but where does it rank in terms of technical performance? Obviously enjoying music is the main thing about them, but I donā€™t want them to be too underdetailed

this pleases me, i have the Vever Gā€™s for my 60ā€™s will absolutely try them on my Hemps tonight, headslap as to why i havenā€™t done it yet

They certainly arenā€™t as detail oriented as some other headphones, but I have not once thought that I was missing out on parts of the music. In fact I was probably paying more attention to the sound just because of how it is presented. Listening harder so to speak?

I may have done a thing. One of the Yolkā€™s snapped when I removed the cup. I was prepping to do a cable mod and once that snapped I had to think of a way to keep using them. So I destroyed an unloved set of HiFiMan HE300 and Hot-Glued the G1000 pads to the inner plastic rings then fastened them with wire to the Hifiman Yolks. Now I can just pop the Hemp Pods in and out. Still need to do the wire mod but I can say this system actually works prett well. Much more secure feeling then the stock grado design.

not sure it will catch on thoā€¦

That is a true abomination, but it ainā€™t stupid if it works. Plus now you have all the more reason to get the Shipibo parts.

Oh, I also forgot to mention that the Shipibo parts actually make the Geekria G-cush pads fit more comfortably. The gimbals have a more angled connection to the rod so you donā€™t have to bend the headband into that square shape to get the pads to sit right on the head.

Someone say stonks? Is Grado publicly traded? Iā€™m pretty sure itā€™s private.

Sarcasm aside, that would be a great idea. Hope youā€™re listening, Grado!

Grado really need to watch this video. Everyone else is moving on and they really need to catch up, in terms of build rather than sound I mean.

Metal gimbals and rod blocks would be nice on the more expensive models and detachable cables are really not negotiable at this point. Other than that Grado is good as far as Iā€™m concerned. The design of the headband is great imo. Simple, light weight, and (if not for the plastic) rather robust.

Unless there are issues Iā€™m not aware of with this connector, they should use the old hifiman screw on connectors since they are rather un-intrusive into the cups.

Removable cables would go a long way. Hopefully their next series will make some changes.

I would even accept just not making the wire Janky in the box. Just a nice big spool around the headphone so it is straight.

Or even just inside the headband like this. This way itā€™s even a FREE change they could make. I canā€™t for the life of me understand why they donā€™t do it this way.

Didnā€™t Z receive some Grado Yaxi pads a while back? I bet those are a good match. Iā€™d love to see Yaxi purple bagel pads / Gcush.

On the SR80e the Yaxi Grado pads are fine, but not exactly an upgrade compared to the stock S-cush pads.

On the Hemps they are not worth it at all. Either stick with stock pads or use geekria hole punch flats or geekria G-cush pads.
