Best thing about the Phantom was the Sesame Street pads. Iād make bracelets out of those.
I fell for the hype. I modded it to the point where I like them now, but generally think itās an average headphone because of what they did to it. It could have been much more.
Like to point where I was googling Audeze headphones last night to replace the Phantoms (thatās should be testimony in itself)

Lots of options up to $350 but one thing that should be in place is a solid build. I was tempted to buy it but then DMS did an actual review. You shouldnāt have to deconstruct something for it to work.
Iād agreeā¦ Though these are more then likely pre-production units that are bound to be flawed. Personally, if I had the funds, Iād be jumping on this.
Iāve begun to notice this too, slowly but surely. Seems to me that itās kind of rare that the chifi truly lives up to the hype. Iāve tried and sold a lot of it rather quickly. But, with that being said, one that lives up to the hype in my opinion is the ikko oh10s. Theyāre really great imo.

This is way better than the Aivaās. The Aivas are like dogs compared to the Helios. I got to hear it and you know what? the only headphone that comes close is the Abyss 1266 phi. and thats on a good day

Theres a recliner next to every headphone ever made. and its in the middle of an enchanted forest glade. and when your finished you can take them home for free. as many as youd like

Hopefully, theyāll have both the Helios and the Abyss 1266 phi tomorrow at canjam for me to try out so I can corroborate your story. Not that I would ever doubt such a believable premise, of course.

If you ever get the Phantom, I will guarantee that you will dislike then based on what you mentioned your preference is.
Also donāt take this the wrong way Ant, but Iāve seen too much where I think itās about time I say something after trying really, really hard to ignore it. I donāt understand why you like hyping things without hearing them for yourself. How many headphones did think are just meh out of the dozens you got that received stellar reviews? This hobby doesnāt need people who quote videos or reviews and regurgitate things on forums. This hobby needs people who are more thoughtful, analytical, rational, responsible when it comes to recommendations. You could be one of them, but sometimes I see some reckless comments that may have been pointed out be past and you continue to do so.
Posting what you got and why you got it is okay.
Posting that some thing is a must buy based on 1 hyped review and allude that itās the best thing youāve never heard is NOT okay.
That is my opinion and what I wanted to communicate to you. Iām just trying to avoid you from being seen as a meme, unless that is exactly what you are after.

Iāll agree that these donāt need to be overly hyped. Iāve read good and bad things already. I did back the indiegogo, but I have a month to back out. I donāt have high hopes for these to outperform things in the 4 or 500 dollar range, or even the 200 range. I donāt even know if theyāll perform well at the 130 I got them for. But in reality, 130 isnāt a bad price to give something a shot. If theyāre not great, well I can gift them or mod the shit out of them I figure. Iām definitely not expecting these to be better than even anything that I already have. But I enjoy the exploration and experimentation.
