Some basic analytics maybe useful if you are doing advertising, also I wonder if that overlaps the YouTube analytics in some way.
Got it at 9am this morning and OK ⦠this is better than coffee
Also got the Moondrop Dawn Pro 10 minutes earlier so I could test it from the phone and it drives them fine, plenty loud at half volume.
Time for the DCA Aeon to go have some rest ā¦
Black Myth Wukong OST
And of course, perfect timing to rewatch Rogue One.
How will the mid range sound like on the Harmonidyne Eris with the k11 r2r amp/dac on OS and NOS modes I heard that the midrange on the Eris is bad (Iām not sure tho I didnāt listen to it) but will the k11 r2r make it somehow better?
I doubt that a different dac/amp would do much, Iām no expert but I never noticed a widely different sound from the 3 different DAC/Amps Iāve had with my planars⦠You are going to get much more drastic results from EQ though.
The mids arenāt ābadā but they are recessed, and I think that gives it more sound stage, so for me I notice it the most when watching TV or videos on YT when itās mostly āvoiceā and the combination of recessed mid and I think the early bass shelf starting at 500Hz can make the voice sounds ⦠a bit like it was recorded from a theater (like those camera recorded versions of movies).
I just run an EQ profile to improve it and get used to it.
For music and even movies the raw tuning is less of an issue, it just sounds different, but you can just roll the same EQ if itās too noticeable. I find turning up the volume and letting it play to its strengths is the fun part.
It measures ābadā but perception is different than a squiggle. It has huge soundstage which requires a dip in the mids, something must be sacrificed to make Eris⦠Eris. And you wonāt notice too much difference on amps until you are fully use to how it soundsā¦
These headphones take time. The pads need to soften and the users brain actually needs to adjust, nothing about them is really normal which is why there are so many different opinions.
So they arenāt ābadā they are just recessed which gives more soundstage? and more forward mids gives more intimacy to the sound? (Not a headphone expert sorry)
And btw do you recommend me getting an amp or dac or anything with the Eris or it just wont make a diffrence?
(Thanks for the reply btw to you and to Jeremy_Wickersheimer)
I had one because I have other headphones that are much harder to drive but the Eris are easy to drive so just a USB dongle is enough if you want to plug them to your phone and donāt have a 3.5 jack.
Since the cable is a 4.4 youād at least need an adapter. Me I just got a Moondrop dawn as a dongle. But if you can look at dongles that can do EQ as well for maximum flexibility⦠I think Hiby has one for example.
You then may want to look at a desktop dac/amp later on if you ever get a more premium or harder to drive set and it that case it will depend on those.
