I’m planning on buying a pair of good headphones, but there are too many of those so I’m struggling really hard.
Here are the options that matter the most to me:
Good sound quality. I know the definition of “good” differs for each person, but there must be some best-sellers from each manufacturer that many people approve.
Dynamic bass. So I bought a pair of Audio-Technica sr5bt maybe a month ago, the sound quality seemed ok (compared to EarPods I’m using atm), but I was disappointed by the bass (or lack of it). I used to use Beats Executive back in the days and I really liked how they made the headphones vibrate so I not only hear some bumping on the background, but also feel it.
Bluetooth. No 3,5mm jack in my phone.
Some extra features that matter the least:
Noise cancellation. Doesn’t really matter to me if there is one or not. I guess I could use it, but never make it a feature I depend on when deciding whether to purchase or not.
Open or closed back. I’m going to use the headphones both at home (plug into my PC) and on the go, so I feel like closed back ones would fit my needs the most because having people around me hear my music can really make them feel uncomfortable.
Good intergated Mic. Since I’m going to plug them into my PC, a mic would be nice to have.
Pricing
Right now I’m looking towards the m50xbt from Audio-Technica, they cost around $200, there have also been Bose QC35 II for like $250, but I’m not sure if it’s worth paying extra $50.
Anything but m50x, and for Bose you’re getting better comfort and great anc. Sound wise, just not the m50x. It’s also not good for long listening sessions cuz ur ears will be bleeding
I didn’t mean I was choosing between m50xbt and Bose. I mentioned these models because they are the ones I learned something about so far, just to let you know where I was heading towards. But I’m actually up for any other model that’s good and worth spending on
Cool yeah your not gonna get for with the m50 in this forum or really anywhere it’s not exactly the value oriented headphone mkbhd likes to tout it as. The only ones worth really buying are the Bose and the Sony’s but my personal tastes lean towards the sonys
for ANC bose and sony are pretty much the best. personally I would nt consider anyone but them for ANC gear. sennheiser makes ok bluetooth headphones but aren’t great. if you plan on plugging them in bluetooth headphones dont sound very good plugged in. and the mic on the sony’s sound kinda not great. but if you care about bass and dynamics the sonys are your best bet. the QC 35’s kinda lack in the actual sound quality paart of things as they sound just ok
Yeah when you’re talking about a wireless pair then you’re limiting yourself to a couple of tried and trusted models like what everyone else has been suggesting.
Now if you don’t necessarily need ANC and are ok with getting a Bluetooth receiver to pair with a set of headphones then you’ll be spoilt for choices. Things like a Fiio BTR3 or BTR5 + HD58x or 4xx fits in your price range
Yeah you could still get a small bluetooth receiver with a cord and wirelessly control your music without being attached to your phone. That would open up way more possibilities.
Like @Soren_Peregrine and @Lel mentioned if you dont want to be as limited to those you could get normal wired headphones and just attach a bluetooth receiver to them. Not as cool looking as fully wireless headphones but usually you can get better sounding headphones AND if you get a nice portable dac it sounds even better. Like this
I got what you mean, I guess making good wired heaphones wireless might actually be a good idea.
Any suggestions besides the Sennheiser HD58x though? (they are from Massdrop, aren’t they? not sure if they ship to Russia)
I believe they are open-backs, I watched some YT reviews on them as well. Fit perfectly for home listening, but not as good for outside
Oh and I forgot. What sound are you looking for? Bass? Neutral? Bass and treble? More treble? Detailed? Wide or narrow?
EDIT: My bad. It looks like you said you wanted something that has really good bass. Just making sure, is that correct?
I honestly can’t answer your last question because all I ever used was a pair of Beats and Earpods I’m using atm. Never got a chance to get my hands on expensive headphones neither because all we’ve got here in our city stores are poor-made noname headphones that cost a small fortune.
By saying I want smth with a really good bass, I meant I want to feel that bass. Like the actual feeling of vibration on my skin. However if exceptional bass cuts the overall sound quality, I’d rather go with lower bass ones that sound better.
Hard to tell what I’m looking for since I never had anything good
The open/closed question - I feel like I might be ok with open ones if they provide that surrounding sound effect, but do they?
So if you want something that shakes with bass, I would recommend the 1More Triple Driver “Over-Ear”. They have the most sub-bass I have ever heard in any headphone. It sounds like you have subwoofers on your ear. The are very V shaped, meaning the Bass is way up, the midrange is very dialed back, and the high notes and treble are way up. They also have amazing treble focus. I would say they are a very fun headphone. The reason they can do such good actual sub-bass and treble is they have one regular driver, a tweeter for the high end, and a passive bass reflector.
They are closed back, and leak basically no sound at blasting volumes. So nobody would be bothered by them. They are actually not over-ear as advertised, but actually on-ear, so not quite as comfortable as an over ear (which goes around your ear), but they are still okay, soft leather. When you have music on, it is hard to hear anything outside, so in that sense they cancel out background noise pretty well.
They are 150 US dollars on Amazon in the USA, not sure what they cost in your country.
They run better on a good amplifier, so if you get a portable bluetooth amplifier with them, it would really let them shine.
Now, if you want something that has a tiny bit less bass, and has more in the midrange, the DT 770 Pro is a good one. Same price. I personally did not like the 80 ohm version, because the high notes were so sharp it hurt my ears. They don’t leak sound very much, isolate pretty well. Worth a consideration.
But yes, if you want a headphone that will shake and make you feel the bass a lot, try the 1More Triple Driver Over-Ear.
And for a bluetooth amplifier/reciever, if you want something really small and easy to use while still having really good sound quality, go for the Earstudio ES100. Packed with features too that you can adjust settings and sound with an app on a phone. And it has a little clip to hook to clothing. Really small and easy. If you want something that has a little better sound quality, while being a little bit bigger and heavier, get the Fiio Q1 Mk2. While not as small and easy, it should sound better. One big problem is it does not have bluetooth though. If you want easy bluetooth function, get the Earstudio ES100.
One that keeps on being recoommended as a good all rounder is the Beyerdynamics DT 880 pro. 80 ohms, i havent heard them but i heard they have decent base and the soundstage is pretty big. Just great general sound. It should run fine on the Earstudio ES100, it’s a amp/dac combo
