šŸ”¶ HiFiMan Arya

@M0N :raising_hand_man:t2:
How is the Arya compared to the LCD24 please?

So that’s going to be a not as fair comparison lol, assuming both are equally driven, the arya will be more neutral (compared to the more warmer and relaxed lcd24) and potentially might have better extension in the bass with much more extension into the treble, it also has the more unique larger driver hifiman presentation which is pretty sweet, but the lcd 24 is pretty much more refined and capable in most ways I can think, it’s more dynamic than the arya, more detailed, better spatial recreation, more organic timbre, more refined frequency response, potentially better impact and slam, generally just an overall higher preforming headphone imo(and the price reflects that). I can see someone preferring the presentation or signature of the hifiman over the lcd 24, but imo to get on a more fair playing field, you would want to consider a he1000se or 1000v2 which would be more on par to the lcd 24 on a technical level. The arya is def good for the price, but I think that it just really isn’t there in most aspects compared to the 24

Not fair for sure lol its just I liked what I read about the signature more than the arya, and hifiman higher offerings didn’t click with me signature wise from my readings. Like the 1000v2 is not worth the price moving from the arya and 1000se is too analytical. Lol ofc I didn’t try them yet but that’s what I’m finding here and other sources. This 1990 is eating my ears so I’m slowly hating the word bright headphone lol.
Plus it has the arya large presentation and being warmer and better technicality wise is tempting.

Personally I wouldn’t agree with this, you still get a solid step forward in performance, but also a bit of a change signature wise

I would call this a bit brighter sound but I actually wouldn’t say analytical, it’s just more upper midrange and treble focused, but it’s not harsh or overly forward imo, also depends on what amp you go with

Are you sure it’s not the aggression instead of the brightness?

Imo the arya is more neutral bright, I would hesitate to really call it warm at all, sometimes can feel like it’s lacking some richness or body in the bass. It might be warmer than the he1000se but neither are warm to me lol, if you are looking for warmth I would direct you elsewhere

Like what clicked with me signature wise stuff like the cascade, lcd 2.2 pf, lcd4\lcd24, but didn’t find anything like arya’s presentation with the same or better technicalities while being warmer, hexv2 feels a step down so avoided it.

Yeah you prob won’t find this to be the case unless you go for a more colored amp, not many things really have the hifiman presentation outside of hifiman lol. If you pair like a he1000v2 with a moon 430ha you might be able to get it warm enough for your liking without sacrificing technicalities (also depends on the dac)

It’s a bit of a downgrade from the arya technicalities wise but it is indeed a warmer hifiman which is rare

I ment the lcd24 having similar presentation to arya while being warmer, I understand the arya is brighter.

hmmm might be the aggression + graininess with brighter tracks, with warmer tracks its fine tbh.

how is the 1000v2 signature wise in your opinion then compared to the arya? my source would be v280+soekris for everything.

Ah ok my bad, I would say they aren’t too similar in presentation

Gotcha yeah that can get fatiguing on the 1990

Signature wise, the he1000v2 would actually be a tad warmer and smoother than the arya, more full bodied, also more impactful imo. Other aspects would be that the he1000v2 is more spacious imo, and imo is more resolving and refined

Oh, with the same big stage and all?

I thought you were talking about lcd24 when you said having larger hifiman presentation my mistake.

IMO bigger stage and just more capable than the arya. It’s also a better value than the arya since you can get the he1000v2 for a similar price used to the arya new, but it is more demanding (but you have a good source so you should be fine with that)

Thats honey to my ears. Thanks alot

Also to be clear imo none of the he1k or the arya are fatiguing or overly aggressive to me, so really no matter which one you go with you probably won’t have issues

That’s good to hear. Anything less than a 1990 lol

Yeah you should be good there lol, while hifiman might be brighter leaning in general, they typically aren’t peaky and as forward as like the 1990 can be, there is a smoothness to them (their larger driver modes besides the ananda at least, stuff like the he6 can sound pretty raw if underpowered)

Forgot to ask one thing, can these be all rounders (arya\hekv2) meaning ok with mainstream crappy things too? like tv and youtube basically all listening at home other than quality music. Because with the 1990 I have to change volumes alot but then you lose other stuff in what you hear (poor 1990s lol they getting mocked alot). I imagined the 800s would act similarly to 1990 with mainstream stuff?

They can be, but they won’t be that forgiving. But honestly I don’t have issues with them listening to eh quality music if you are ok with hearing the flaws they have, but it’s not like painful

Yes depending on the amp

So I found this cable " LQi " priced better than mooncables and their description of copper vs silver sound is consistent with most cable makers:

The Voda Series UP-OCC copper cable is smooth and engaging. It offers a touch of organic warmth with a slight boost to the bass, but it gives up nothing in resolution or detail. It’s an excellent complement to a brighter headphone like the Sennheiser HD800 or Sony MDR-Z1R.

The Esprit Series UP-OCC silver plated copper cable is neutral and resolving. It offers a transparent window into the music whether it be female vocals, dubstep or Beethoven. It’s clarity and microdetail reproduce accurate aural images and a realistic soundstage. From violin to vocals, tonal balance is faithful to the recording. Bass is extended and tight with no bloom or added warmth.

Can a copper cable really give even slight warmth like they say with things like arya and 800s and not ruin the sound?

I got my Arya on Saturday and in only a few days I can tell I’ve got my endgame. Compared to my Ananda it’s a more detailed and lively sound with amazing staging and imaging. I’m keeping these and my AP2000ti and selling most if not all my other headphones.

One thing I might do is get a new amp but I do still like my SP200 a lot. I’m thinking of getting a nice class A amp to go with my SMSL, so if there’s anyone that has used one with the Arya that sounds good please let me know.

Got these today. Seem like a very promising replacement for my edition x v2 and focal clears. He1000 is in the future… I can feel it

I almost went for the $1999 open box HE1000 V2 on the Hifiman store but after seeing Josh Vs comparison video I felt like these would be more my speed and I think I made the right choice.

I’ve been listening to them for probably 6 or 7 hours today and they make my music sound fresh and new even if it’s an album I’ve heard 30 times. The separation is next level and the depth to the music is just as good, I’m loving this headphone.
