Wisdom, right there!
Thanks for that vote of confidence. Iām learning from past experience with planars, many of them have benefited from burn in to varying degrees. Iāve had some that changed from being mediocre to really great after a few days. Soundstaging changed from being closed in sounding to outside the head transparent. Iāll keep you all posted on my progress. Letās hope for the best.
Any updates?
What would you say is the best option for the Arya going up the chain? iFi Pro iCAN?
Thanks!
What sound signature would you be going for?
I would say on the warmer/fuller side.
Hmmmmm, in that case, I do like the violectric v280 or the auralic taurus mkii in the 1k ish range. The taurus is going to be a bit warmer smoother more organic sounding but still forward, the v280 would be more relaxed sounding for the most part and a bit more neutral imo. Also would this still be with a bifrost 2?
Yeah. Still with the Bifrost 2. Iāve been pretty pleased with the Asgard 2, just wondering what the next level up with a similar sound would be. Iāll research the other models youāve listed.
So with the bifrost 2 the auralic is a really good pick imo, it gives the arya a great sense of organicness and fullness, while keeping clarity and resolution, also takes a bit of an edge off the arya treble while maintaining good technicalities. Also great with dynamics and stage, pretty nice. Should be around 900 used
Perfect. Thanks!
Iām still burning them in but Iāll try to post something tomorrow or the next dayā¦
Posting my burn in and listening progress for the few days Iāve had Arya. Iāve been playing brown and pink noise overnight since this past Sat. This afternoon Iāve been going back and forth between Ananda and Arya. Iāve noticed that Ananda is more forward in itās presentation. From bass to mids and treble. Arya on the other hand is a little more laid back but just as detailed. I believe the soundstage is opening up and getting wider from my first listen on Saturday. Aryaās bass seems more controlled and neutral than Anandaās. Arya seems overall less hyped than Ananda, suitable for long listening sessions. I can turn up the volume and Arya stays more composed. Iāll keep those who are interested up to date on my progress.
Next day after overnight of pink noise (4 days total): Much brighter signature. Head stage and soundstage much more open and transparent. Instruments and vocals more layered and clear. Background vocals and instruments are more easily differentiated and able to be understood. Horns are vivid and believable. Iām really becoming more impressed with this open box Arya. I had my doubts before when I listened between Ananda and Arya. I thought Ananda was closer to Arya. Not anymore though. Arya, FTW. Iāll keep you all posted on my further burn in progress. Thanks all.
So thatās going to be a not as fair comparison lol, assuming both are equally driven, the arya will be more neutral (compared to the more warmer and relaxed lcd24) and potentially might have better extension in the bass with much more extension into the treble, it also has the more unique larger driver hifiman presentation which is pretty sweet, but the lcd 24 is pretty much more refined and capable in most ways I can think, itās more dynamic than the arya, more detailed, better spatial recreation, more organic timbre, more refined frequency response, potentially better impact and slam, generally just an overall higher preforming headphone imo(and the price reflects that). I can see someone preferring the presentation or signature of the hifiman over the lcd 24, but imo to get on a more fair playing field, you would want to consider a he1000se or 1000v2 which would be more on par to the lcd 24 on a technical level. The arya is def good for the price, but I think that it just really isnāt there in most aspects compared to the 24
Not fair for sure lol its just I liked what I read about the signature more than the arya, and hifiman higher offerings didnāt click with me signature wise from my readings. Like the 1000v2 is not worth the price moving from the arya and 1000se is too analytical. Lol ofc I didnāt try them yet but thatās what Iām finding here and other sources. This 1990 is eating my ears so Iām slowly hating the word bright headphone lol.
Plus it has the arya large presentation and being warmer and better technicality wise is tempting.
Personally I wouldnāt agree with this, you still get a solid step forward in performance, but also a bit of a change signature wise
I would call this a bit brighter sound but I actually wouldnāt say analytical, itās just more upper midrange and treble focused, but itās not harsh or overly forward imo, also depends on what amp you go with
Are you sure itās not the aggression instead of the brightness?
Imo the arya is more neutral bright, I would hesitate to really call it warm at all, sometimes can feel like itās lacking some richness or body in the bass. It might be warmer than the he1000se but neither are warm to me lol, if you are looking for warmth I would direct you elsewhere
Like what clicked with me signature wise stuff like the cascade, lcd 2.2 pf, lcd4\lcd24, but didnāt find anything like aryaās presentation with the same or better technicalities while being warmer, hexv2 feels a step down so avoided it.
Yeah you prob wonāt find this to be the case unless you go for a more colored amp, not many things really have the hifiman presentation outside of hifiman lol. If you pair like a he1000v2 with a moon 430ha you might be able to get it warm enough for your liking without sacrificing technicalities (also depends on the dac)
Itās a bit of a downgrade from the arya technicalities wise but it is indeed a warmer hifiman which is rare
I ment the lcd24 having similar presentation to arya while being warmer, I understand the arya is brighter.
hmmm might be the aggression + graininess with brighter tracks, with warmer tracks its fine tbh.
how is the 1000v2 signature wise in your opinion then compared to the arya? my source would be v280+soekris for everything.
