šŸ”¶ Hifiman Edition XS

People rant and rave about the sundara and it has the hifiman dip too. I never hear people say sundaras have bad mids. I think the combination of staging mix being front rather than center with that dip in certain things throws people off but I have no issues with it.

I’m thinking if pulling the trigger, but can’t get the price below $415, before shipping and taxes.

I own the Sundara, but really prefer the 6XX the majority of the time. I’m hoping the XS offers better staging, imaging, and instrument separation.

Someone was mentioning with coupons they got it down to $370 on AliExpress just a few comments up in this thread. Might want to ask him how he managed that.

As for how it compares to the sundara, I’m sure you’ll find someone to give the sundaras to lol. Also if you have the suspension headband on the sundaras you could probably swap it onto the XS if you don’t like the comfort.

Ordered 4 pads from Ali for 4 diff cans and they all looked like dead ringers, and none sounded the way the stock ones did, and they sounded poorly on their own - wrong density, wrong absorbtion…

4XX cables are at best meh.

Round cup HiFM round cups to me sound best with Dan Clark Ether Angled Lamb. They cost $79.

Cables - usually any O2 free cooper of 24 ga sounds fine, make them yourself and save a bundle. Must buy - Custom Cans UK - about $130 plus ship

Yeah I haven’t tried the leather oval pads yet even though I’ve had them for months lol but I’m curious to see what the custom pads from @NtraXMod measure like. I typically like suede pads with hifimans and I don’t like angled pads but there’s just no options out there for the oval cans.

I tried everything and couldn’t get below $415. Which store or coupons did you use?

I used 30$ ali, >30$ seller coupon (electicxiaomi store) + coins. But now I see that they increased base price (was 432$, now 448)

Much appreciated!

You can try directly ask seller about discount, just don’t mention that someone else got it or previous price matching etc (they usually don’t give discount that way)

PIC says one thing - the pads suck. Those things came with the 5se - rubbish.

i’m hoping these do it. fenestrated micro suede inside, micro suede contact patch and one is leather outside and one is micro suede outside, both non angled and both memory foam. whichever one sounds better on my he1000se will stay on that and the leftover one is going on my XS.

When I ordered it it said ā€œpreorder - stock will arrive by the end of Novemberā€

Asked the support for updates

Sounds like they are selling a lot of these without even knowing if and when they will get them.

Guess should have ordered on aliexpress too but leaving 500$ there to a ā€œno-nameā€ shop…

Let us know if it’s worth the waiting.

Hi everyone, after lurking this thread for a while, today I pulled the trigger and ordered them!
Thanks to the discount codes and the ways posted here, I managed to get them for 374USD from AliExpress.
The wait begins and I hope to have no issues.

I owned the Deva and the 400i 2020 and I especially like the latter.
I hope the XS to be it for me!

@Pokrog do you think it’s still worth getting these when I already own HE6SE V2? Or do they sound similar enough that I should spend the money on something else?

That’s a tough call. I think these are a pretty immersive sound and the soundstage is drastically bigger and more dynamic in it’s depth and placement and they have I’d say a slightly better stock tuning and are more forgiving to source so if your he6 isn’t being driven with an absolute unit of an amp there’s a solid chance the XS outperforms the he6 in a lot of aspects. They could be a solid all arounder for sure and I’d say if you want to give them a shot there’s a lot more expensive gambles out there and I think this one is pretty safe. Don’t expect to have your socks knocked off if you’re coming from an he6, but the soundstage is pretty incredible for the price and they’re really resolving even on lower power sources. Not that they can just be plugged into a PC and sound good, but they sound pretty good on anything with an actual amp. My LG v50 phone drives them pretty well.

Thanks for the comparison! How about the sound signatures? Seems like they’re similar in terms of sound signature.

I’m just driving my He6se v2 using topping a30 pro which is 5.5w at 32omh. Not the best pairing but seems enough to drive them decently. I love what I hear but feel that it’s lacking in the subbass and very slight sibilance for one or 2 songs. Recently just found out that the pair I own has defects, which affects the subbass and treble. So I’m waiting for my replacement set, hopefully it’ll blow me out the water when I receive the replacement set!

I currently own he6se v2, gl2000, dt1990 Pro, Dt177x, hemp, Sr-l300, hd58x, shp9600, k361. Driving on topping D30 pro and A30 pro. I’m pretty happy with my current collection. But it’s currently sales period and I want to reward myself for working hard this year! Any recommendations under USD800?
