Oh yes, sorry

Already posted and discussed above.

Funny, after reading all this I thought I would be chomping at the bit to get these, but no. I donā€™t think they are going to bring anything significantly better to the table than what I already have. So Iā€™m gonna take a pass and keep saving for something better.

HiFiMan is kind of weird with its product line. It releases great products at value prices and then undercuts that product within a pretty short time frame with an even cheaper product thatā€™s damn good.

Take the HE400se, for example. Itā€™s better and cheaper than the 400i. Itā€™s not as good as Sundara, but is it $200 less in sonic quality? I think not. The HE-400se also has stealth magnets, which the 400i and I believe the Sundara ā€“ both more expensive ā€“ donā€™t have.

This sounds similar to the Ananda-Edition XS cost-value relationship.

Moondrop, another Chinese company, does the same thing with its fine IEMs. Moondrop released the Starfield to rave reviews as a very smooth, pleasing, single-driver IEM for $105. And what happened not that much later? Moondrop released the Aria, an IEM with a sound signature almost identical to the Starfield, for $80. It wasnā€™t a Starfield replacement; it was just another product VERY similar to the Starfield, yet even cheaper.

Maybe thereā€™s something about Chinese product marketing and product lines thatā€™s very different from Western companies? Not sure. Itā€™s interesting, though.

Well after listening Edition XS for while at the evening today, i think 1990 is no more my main headphones and will stay with edition xs, this soundstage and so deep in depth sound presentation stelaed me:) When i tried to switch back to 1990, everything become so small, yes there is some coldness in midrange, but bass, sounstage is really cool. Get me to your club:)
The only thing that I would like to get more a little bit more juice from the mids / highs(too much studio like), the bass is already hurricane.

I am interested in the Edition XS, especially with them being available directly through Hifiman. I had actually bought a pair from Hifigo back in November, 2021 but ultimately decided to cancel.

Iā€™ve been reading alot about the bass. How does it compare to a pair of original HE-6? The 4-screw version I have tends to be quite aggressive in the treble regions and I get fatigued after about 1 hour. That said, the HE-6 has always been my ā€œtake it out on a special occasionā€ cans.

If bass on the XS turns out be similar, Iā€™d be quite happy to try my hand as a pair of daily drivers.

Amen brother, AMEN!

@Pokrog just got my Soloist X3 in today, and boy it does run warmā€¦ thatā€™s normal right? I donā€™t recall my THX789 getting this warm but I feel like i could fry an egg ontop of this thing EZ.

Either way, so far im loving it but definitely want to give it time to burn in.

Another thing for people to take note on is that running the Edition XS off of SE (RCA) instead of Balanced (XLR) from a DAC will generally yield half the voltage tooā€¦ most DACs output about 2volts from RCA vs 4V or more from XLR output to your amplifier. Just spending the extra to go fully balanced from DAC to Amp to Headphone will greatly improve the performance on these cans as well, as it would with any high end headphone.

Try that mid fix that @ctrlm mentioned, if you can use eq, I believe it will solve most of the issue, it is that good

Also try tube 3 on your d1se as an alternative option, it improved imaging and smoothed highs for me, but slightly killed the dynamics

When Iā€™ve been outside in the cold for a while I put my hands on both sides of it to warm my hands up lol. Itā€™s a pure class a amp so itā€™s always cranking out as much power as itā€™s set to. Have you tried the volume bypass yet? Control volume with your DAC or preamp and itā€™s epic. I donā€™t even use the volume knob, just different gain stages lol.

I just got myself the one suggested by Nr48 and it fits perfectly the EDXS!
He was so kind to point out to me that there is actually a large size one, which is the one to get for the EDXS.

Thanks again to Nr48 for the suggestion, I just got the headband cover and I will try it extensively today, but for me it is already improving the fit a lot. They were a little too big for me, now they feel perfect and are more stable too

guys anyone can you please provide me with great eq settings for rock/metal

What track is this exactly? And this much ā€˜rumbleā€™ is not natural. They seem to be running beyond their physical parameters.

Give us the name of the track - let me check what I hear.

Didnā€™t think so, prodigy works great on my, but i still donā€™t like the midrange, but everything else is great. Midrange here is too cold, lacking warmth. They sounds like Iā€™m listening music in the box, i think that is because of cups design. And i think headband is the issue for me, not enough clamp, thinking of selling these and get the Ananda for 599ā€¦ Not decided yet.
Or maybe get Audeze lcd-x as endgame

Mine doesnā€™t do that at all and Iā€™m running with IFI Zen Can with xbass turned on ^^
