No issues with headband on xs? How is the midrange on Ananda compare to XS?

There is a lot of sub bass at the start there on that track, very audible even outside the cups but mine doesnā€™t sound like that recording.

for me xs is better at everything except stage width

yeah i cant hear when i actually listening on my head its just when i remove it listen its like subwoofer

When you say canā€™t hear the rumble, you should still be feeling and hearing a serious rumble when on your head, and I mean ALOT ^^ on that track. Itā€™s a bass monster.

somehow i can feel it not hear it its like subwoofer

That one sounds like sub bass kick to me, just less than the prodigy track. I can kind of get that if you turn mine way up past my comfort level. You should be feeling and hearing that level of bass though when itā€™s on your head.

If you are used to normal open back headphones, the amount of sub bass the EDXS can generate can be very surprising. Iā€™m used to non neutral IEMā€™s like the MELE so it sounds correct to me, maybe thatā€™s it?

this is happening mostly on industrial metal and techno

Both of which have lots of sub bass, most open backs struggle with because itā€™s typically very rolled off. In fact the EDXS is my first open back that presents sub bass levels similar to the IEM world.

gonna be nice when I actually get to check this headphone outā€¦ lots of good reviews from a great many people, not as mixed as gl2k. Surprised to see its quite impactful too

What kind of genre of music are you guys listening to with these? I was initially interested in them before buying the 8xxā€™s, but Iā€™m still curiousā€¦

Everything I like, which makes this excellent can even more versatile:

Rock
Classic rock
Alternative rock
Alt-country
Americana
Bluegrass
Hard bop jazz
Piano jazz
Progressive house EDM
Deep house EDM

These work really well with a wide variety, a quality my HE-400se has and I hoped remained with these cans, with even greater fidelity. Bingo.

You may want to consider the headband cover I posted. For me, it improved the fit considerably.

anyone have thoughts on XS vs HE6seV2?

I think the XS is far more balanced than the HE6se v2 and a lot more people would probably like the XS tuning than the HE6, and stock vs stock, theyā€™re very close in a lot of aspects, with the major difference being the mids on the XS being either fuller, or maybe just less of bump around the dip in FR making it seem less drastic.

That being said, Hifiman kinda did the HE6 dirty by having it priced at $600ish because people that buy them rarely have what it takes to make them shine. They are very much a $1700 headphone and just because you put a Ferrari engine in your bone stock Honda, doesnā€™t mean you are getting Ferrari performance. Iā€™d bet money most people would say the XS has more bass because theyā€™re not getting the colossal, head kicking bass potential the HE6 has due to source gear. I think itā€™s pretty safe to say to most people asking ā€œcan my X run the HE6ā€, the answer is probably no if you gotta ask. No, a cheap speaker amp isnā€™t doing it. No, a $1000 speaker amp isnā€™t doing it. A90 doesnā€™t come close, 789 is pathetically bad and maybe the worst Iā€™ve ever heard the HE6 on when it comes to actual dedicated headphone amps, Singxer SA-1 doesnā€™t do it but tries real hard, FA-10/12 is a no, BASX A100 and A2 were an awful pairing and were really grainy, G111 struggled pretty hard to pull out dynamics, Liquid Platinum was pretty nice overall but couldnā€™t pull resolution out of them very well, ifi anything under $1000 doesnā€™t even make an attempt.

The HE6 has quite a bit more resolving capabilities, but again, heavily dependent on actually powering them to get that difference and the staging on the XS annihilates the HE6, but nobody ever said that was a strong point on the HE6, though in the scope of things, it is still very good.

All that being said, if you have something that will run the HE6 well, then itā€™s amazing, and that same system will most likely pair extremely well with the XS and result in a really nice overall package.

Thanks for your review!
I enjoy classical music, orchestra the most: how better would be the experience with the Ananda instead?

Iā€™m currently using X2HR + SoudBlaster X G6 connected to PC. will getting Hifiman Edition XS be a big step up and worth the money?

I mainly use the headphone for multiple genres immersive single player game, where thereā€™s a game background music and a lot of sound effects going on.
I also often listen to musics on Youtube and play some online fps games now and then but not a main focus of getting audio advantage, only immersive and fun for gaming.

I really like immersive sound with a huge sound stage. Would this Edition XS be a better choice than Ananda?

Also How much improvement Iā€™m going to get If I upgrade from X2HR to EXS/Ananda for about the 3x price of X2HR?

Thanks everyone for shedding some light for me.
