No, the Zen Can is a true (differential) balanced amp so the 4.4mm provides more power than SE. The Zen Can can deliver high voltage for high impedance headphones (160mW SE 300Ohm / 645mW balanced 300Ohm) but is limited in its current output. For Planar you need current, not voltage. So the Zen Can is not the first choice here.
Just checked the measurement again, because the current is limited they actually have the same power into 32 Ohm with SE and balanced (1.2W into 32 Ohm). Explains why You didnât hear any difference between stock SE and balanced.
That the silver one was significantly louder sounds strange thoâŠ
Because double the voltage? Output power would be 4x then (P=UÂČ/R). Not every amp has more output power with balanced input. Most Toppings and SMSL claim to have the same power with SE and balanced input. Canât find any info about that for the Zen Can unfortunately.
I think I will go for a Hart Audio HC-9 cable, over the NewFantasia/AE stuff. Not sure what material the Hart cables are made from, tho. (Answer= âoxygen free copper from Mogamiâ) Should I get a copper or silver cable for XSâŠ?
Actually, THIS looks like The One! $163 for 4+4 strand hybrid, or $239 for 8 strand⊠Will I hear a difference?
Huh could only explain that much difference with bottom of the barrel cables, if you have a multimeter a quick impedance measurement could give an explanation
Why the M11? Does the Gryphon DAC sound so bad? Or just because you have all the music on your DAP? But then you could use Bluetooth to the Gryphon or USB out from the M11.
Powerwise it is not a big step either (M11 550mw - Gryphon 1000mw)
Seems we had a similar idea. Came in today, decided to ditch my TV >qudelix 5k (dac) > sp400 > 15 feet extension cord to the couch setup and go back to a easy time where I just had a xCan and a hd700.
Oratory1990 did measure a couple pair of these a couple days back if anyone missed it. 87 preference rating and eq didnât change much, ending at a 89.
That preference rating is kinda silly to me. I mean, I remember him putting the pc38x as like 102/100 after EQ and laughed my ass off. Those things absolutely do NOT take EQ well and I remember a corrected deva hitting 100/100 which is pretty ridiculous as well, IMO. The scoring seems almost arbitrary with some things hitting like 107-109/100 and I feel like actual technicalities donât play into the scoring whatsoever, just how closely a simple 7-10 band EQ can get the FR to his target.
after reading all the reviews I thought of ordering a pair. I donât know about their policies. This is the first time I am going to buy from an international store. which would be the best store to buy. and if I buy on the Black Friday sale do they provide a return policy? regarding shipping, I had no experience with USPS mostly I prefer Aliexpress. I heard USPS liteblue doesnât guarantee if the product is lost or anything happens in case. So, Iâm scared.
any suggestion or advice is helpful for Mr.
Thank you
Guess You can only find out yourself. If you read along the thread you will see the opinions about required power differ a lot. Some are talking about speaker amps, some others say the normal 1W-3W range is enough and myself saying they run fine of a Qudelix 5k (210mW).
Why the DX5 ? It seems to be barely any better than the DX3 pro+ but double the price.
DX3 pro+ : 116 dB SINAD, 1.5W @ 32Ohm
DX5 : 122 dB SINAD, 1,7W @ 32Ohm (XLR headphone out is not balanced)
Only thing would be the XLR out on the back, donât know if you need them for some powered speakers or so.
I didnât think about it⊠almost same power and efficiency. XLR is not balanced as you said (missleading).
No need for outputs speakers. And quite cheaper⊠hmmmm. Thanks for opening my eyes!
