I’ve been listening to them since I came home, I’m more than happy with them. I added a profile in APO Eq with the Peace skin but I’ve been jumping back and forth between Eq’d and none Eq’d.
I tried them on the Magni 3 and back on the Spark. I don’t know why but it almost felt like there was a big change after cranking them on the Magni 3 a little bit. I feel like I don’t have to turn the Spark up as much now. Before I was at like 2 o’clock. Now 11 to 12 o’clock is more than enough. I’m not sure what that’s about…
Either way, they played for about 15 hours straight at a reasonable volume, and a little jolt from the Magini 3 and I’m about as happy as I thought I’d be. Now to pickup some Sennheiser to add to the collection.
You may have emailed me already, but as others have mentioned, I can currently do custom dual 3.5mm balanced cables. Hopefully will have it and dual 4-pin mini-XLR designs added to the site as a stock option before Christmas.
The liquid Spark by far. I the magni 3 has a noticable harder thumbing the bass on some headphones, not so much on the 4XX.
The overall sound is so much cleaner and more pleasing to listen with the Liquid Spark.
I think it had to be some type of burn in. Because I don’t have to turn the volume up as much to get ruffly the same volume that I did before… I think
And they do sound cleaner overall, but that’s likely my ears and the burn in combined.
I still feel that slightly listing in the tunnel effect on some songs, but I realize that’s the wider sound stage not pairing as well with the mastering and sounds in a couple songs.
Also, I eq’d the bass up to hear how it would sound. It’s great of course… But I get more solid kick from the Kph30i out of the box and with the Sr80E +1.5-2 gain on the lower frequencies when compared to the HE4XX even with the same gain increase. I have to take the gain up to around 4 before I get the punch of the others.
It’s not a big thing at all, just some thing I noticed. I also played with bumping the mids to better balance the slightly V shape of the sound…
Again this is just me playing with the new toy, not really necessary to enjoy. I would recommend some burn in time on a amp for sure though.
By bass are you referring to Bass or subbass, because the subbass on the 4xx is more prominent vs the kph or grado imo, but the 4xx doesn’t have a bass hump like the koss or grado
Y’know, I never imagined that burn-in would really do much of anything until I tried these. Sounded s little flat at first until a while afterwards when things just “popped” out more than I remembered.
So glad this was my introduction to good audio. That soundstage and the things planar drivers have pretty much put me in the camp of almost exclusively buying planar headphones in the future lol
On another note, I think this headphone has taught me what proper bass is for the most part, so I’m pretty grateful for that too-
They’re a beauty set of headphones and a great place to start and even finish (at least for awhile lol)… glad you’re enjoying them… got them plugged into an amp?
I keep having one kid bitch about how loud they are whenever I’m out and about with mine. Nearly beat the shit out of him when he came up from behind and yanked out one side by the cable and tried saying I was gonna damage my ears. Now he just tries flagging me down and telling me to turn it down cause my “music is trash”. Clearly the only logical response is to turn it up.
yo that guy would be in a body bag if he did that shit to me, what kind of environment are you in that you have people who think it’s okay to do shit like this?
