šŸ”¶ Hifiman HE6SE

Awesome. Thank you!

I was hoping to get a pair, but the listing was gone. I ended up ordering some stainless steel woven wire mesh to make my own. Iā€™ll still make some, but Iā€™ll also order the honeycomb from eBay now that theyā€™re re-listed. Iā€™ll leave impressions here comparing the two.

Thanks again.

Definitely worth the wait. The crappy plastic screw broke in the yoke rod so I replaced them all with metal. So much better than the stock headband.

Man i can finally use these to their full potential other than using a vali 2 with only 1 watt. the sound is so far beyond my ananda that its crazy. The slam and the spacial separation and center image is scary good. sound stage is wild with the grills off with ebay grills i really cant ask for better its scary how good it is for the price (700$) i think youd be hard pressed under 1500 dollars for all around sound quality in the full spectrum of bass to treble. but maybe i will change my mind someday,

i blew my friends minds yesterday and they were making fun of me for being into audio so much and speakers all over my house but i think i converted them they said ā€œit feels like im thereā€ " i cant believe how crisp this sounds" put on some chocolate chip trip by tool and they thought i had my speakers on lol yes some will say i need more power for he6se but i really dont think so at least its good enough for me. my ears are vibrating at half volume on high gain.

Try reducing your source volume and using high gain and high volume on your amp and you can really get some crazy slam. I use a 110hz low shelf and crank it as high as I want and it doesnā€™t distort at all, retains all of its detail, and slams harder than anything Iā€™ve ever owned. I think you can get around 4 watts in high gain on a jot 2.

yeah they slap so hard, but its not just that. the texture and tone is amazing. now yes i have nice NOS tubes in the vali as a pre amp which i highly recommend as a cheap way to get some tubes into your planars. the mid range is to die for. but the amp itself has great spacial qualities . its like having surround sound compared to my heresy using anandas for both tests so power isnt a factor. JOT 2 is no joke

I recently acquired an HE6SE v1 with the honeycomb grill mod and Dekoni Fenestrated Lambskin Pads. I am pairing it mostly with a Jot 2 and couldnā€™t be happier! Personally, I think they are the BEST PLANARS I have heard. Sold my LCD-2 rev 1 and Aeon Flow Open bc of them. These are incredible!

Jumping back into the hobby (Porta Pros are great but to quote Smoky, ā€œthat ainā€™t enoughā€) and wanted to try the HE6SEv2.

I know the ideal pairings arenā€™t budget friendly, but hoping that even on the low end I can get a taste of the experience.

Going to try a used Adcom GFA-555 II and a Topping D30 Pro as a pair.

Are there any pitfalls, ticks, trips or info to know about listening from speaker taps? Is it pretty much plug and play?

I bought this item, is this ideal/acceptable?

Is there anything else needed?

Thanks for any and all input!

If you donā€™t like that route you could go with lqi and get the standard or thick version.

I think itā€™s the same company, just the standard version.

They really do scale and change somewhat with higher/better-quality power. I havenā€™t heard them paired with the Adcom, but my understanding is that the combination should work.

I have a Krell KST-100 in repair, but am currently using a NAD thatā€™s only 50 wpc (8 watts into 50 ohms) and itā€™s still not quite enough power (theyā€™ll get louder than I can/would ever listen to, but the low end is somewhat lacking at normal listening levels - 75-85 dB).

Looking forward to your impressions. :+1:t4:

Hey, figured Iā€™d ask here about the Audeze headband mods. I modded my HE-500 and put the drivers into the Adorama HE-560 cups and headband, but I want to try the Audeze headband mod. I have the headband, problem is the yoke kit is out of stock literally everywhere, seemingly for months. Any one know if I can contact Audeze for the kit? Or anyone here have a spare they are willing to let go of?

I think Audeze would be willing to sell you the parts. If Iā€™m remembering correctly, someone on another forum contacted them and were able to purchase the parts. If theyā€™re in stock, I donā€™t see an issue.

Good luck. :+1:t4:

Thanks, I contacted them but they need proof of purchase of an Audeze headphone, which I donā€™t haveā€¦ they said they canā€™t do over the counter parts requests to everyone right now. oh well.

Man, sorry to hear that.

Maybe a friend that owns an Audeze can help you out?

I used the HifiMan Hybrid headband and Iā€™m happy with it.

Iā€™m not really a fan of the hybrid/Sundara headband, even stretching it to reduce clamp it just doesnā€™t fit me well. Iā€™ll ask around to see if anyoneā€™s willing to get Audeze parts for me.
Speaking of whichā€¦ anyone here wanna help a guy out? :eyes:

Maybe try posting in all the audeze threads and see if someone will give you their serial number. @DivineCurrent
