🔶 Hifiman HE6SE

Will do, thanks. However, they also need like a receipt/proof of purchase, presumably with my name on it, so that’s why I probably need someone to buy the parts for me. It’s kind of ridiculous the lengths you need to go to in order to get these yoke parts!

Playing around with some new grills

Trying out the Modhouse deerskin strap to help with that hot spot. I don’t wanna give up the swivel. So far, so good!

greetings,
was looling for some used he6seV2 but not shure if i should got a pair cause Hifiman quality ya know :stuck_out_tongue:
So now i wanted to ask if the V2 has still the same issuses and i shoiuld pray for a new Adorama sale or if the build has improved and one doesnt roll the dice with a used pair
thx for any input

I picked up mine open box from Adorama and they were “like-new”. They do seem to be on the cheaper side build-wise, but the only other HifiMan that I’ve tried was the Susvara and that’s built really well.

I think Adorama will get more stock in August (?) and I’m sure they’ll run their sale when they come in. I’d personally hold off to get from Adorama on sale unless you personally know the seller.

Good luck. :+1:t4:

yeah a 1 year warranty makes one less hestinant to pluck a headphone into a speakeramp XD

Bought mine used from the original owner. He had picked his up from one of the Adorama sales. I haven’t had any issues with it so far.

I was a little nervous about the speaker amp thing, but I bought a Schiit Sys and put it in the middle of the amp and DAC. The dial takes some tension to turn it. No accidentally blowing up anything. I feel just as secure using the speaker amp with the Sys as I did using an Emotiva BasX with the jumper removed.

Long story short, I haven’t had any issues and it was really worth the “trouble” doing the whole speaker amp setup. Other than exploring EQ with different albums and genres, I’m cured of my upgradeitis.

just thought i would update. i had to pay some bills and sold my he6se adorama and my JOT 2 amp, maybe the amp wasnt enough but i caved and bought the he 5xx for 170 with balanced cables included upgraded the pads and use the new IEmagni amp and i gotta say even without EQ i like it as much or better than the he6se. maybe im not as much of an audiophile as i thought? yes without EQ the he6se is smoother sounding and warmer. however the 5xx is snappier and just as clear maybe less detail but the speed makes me think it might have more? idk. maybe the JOT 2 with 5 watts wasnt enough for the dynamics but im loving the 5xx with oratory EQ its significantly lighter and snappier sounding for 170 dollars used i mean you cant do better. much more comfortable and easy to drive . i think a good example of planar tech advancement trickle down. was it the amp or my ears? @M0N sorry dont mean to drag you into anything haha i will go post in 5xx thread i dont want to pollute this thread but it is relevant as a comparison.

I mean personally like I’ve said before, I think the jot 2 really limits what this headphone can do, and it really starts to show it’s true colors on a higher end speaker amp, the 5xx would play much nicer with normal headphone amps. Also the 5xx is more using the tech of new hifiman rather than the older style of the he6se so they go for different things. So basically I think it’s pretty clearly the amp, because when amped correctly the 5xx is no comparison against the he6, but if you limit the he6 to midrange headphone amps, I can see it being more a comparison

thanks if that is the case it is both a downside and explanation. yes its good to know it is better than i was getting out of it. but bad because you must spend as much as the headphone on an amp minimum but i guess thats the high end game! insane to think 5 watts isnt enough but i get it .

It’s got a very high power requirement AND quality requirement as well, so you have to fulfill both to get a really amazing experience

I’ve become a huge resolve fan over this past year. The dude probably goes deeper on measurements and technical performance than any other reviewer.

I must say I am surprised at his take on these three

i wasn’t sure what to think of that. the he6se v2 had the honeycomb grills and stock pads i think, he6se v1 was stock, and the he6 had velour pads. i kinda wish they all got tested with the same setup.

He did say he rolled about a dozen pads and tried with the grill mod off and on.

It’s also interesting the the og he6 has more punch and slam yet measure lower on that area of frequency response.

the blutack mod helps with bass quite a bit. definitely a worthwhile mod and dirt cheap.

Just saw Resolve mention the V2 went on sale at some point for something like $800?! I wonder how long we’ll have to wait for that to come again.

August or fall IMO but sounds like the og is the move. I’m

What are the odds of the burson soloist 3x properly powering the HE-6SE? Its no speaker amp but the power specs on the their website are apparently modest. And do you feel like a speaker amp with a HE-6 outperforms the HEKSE with a decent desktop amp?
