Unplug the cables or leave them in?
I just leave the cables in
Sorry for all the questions, I feel like I started over today lol.
Schiit support says itās enough to drive them so we shall see.
Well, schiit does have a motive to get you to buy their products lol
Itās got a better shot than most amps with that power, the Jotās party trick is itās ability to provide a lot of current. Itās why they started with it as the basis for the SR1A amp, although I believe nothing of the original design survived in that amp.
I already have and their warranties donāt transfer. I bought it used. I got it from a Guitar Center in Albany that took it in on a trade so I have a return policy on it.
I mean, I would say there are beefier amps, but I never really have enjoyed the 6se on an actual headphone amp, speaker amps are where itās at for the 6se
I even watched this last night before I bought the one at Guitar Center late at night in a panic because the one I was watching on Ebay got bid and deactivated the auction.
I donāt want to live in a world where Jude from Headfi is a liar. In Ron Burgundy break down voice he said it could handle it!
I think Iām dehydrated from crying about Neil and obligatory January dieting. lol
He said āEasilyāā¦and I believed him!
Hey Iām just speaking from experience, other he6 owners can confirm with me lol
SHOW JUDE SOME RESPECT MON!!!
I know bro. Thereās always better in most enthusiast categories. I game and my PC is pretty bad ass and then thereās the guy who ran his own water tubes and Iām like looking at my AIO with sad eyes.
I accidentally bought super end game cans and now must try to reconcile with it. the Jot comes Monday, Iāll listen and if itās not enough Iāll either return it and try to find a stereo amp, or return the cans or find someone who wants to buy them since you canāt ones this good (seriously I got a great pair except for the wire outer tubing kinks- no rattle or moving grills) and just go back to my LCDXs being my crown jewel.
I mean as I typed all that out I sort of feel dumb, I am so privileged that this is aā¦problem? Australia is on fire. itās just audio crap, right? Itās about the music right? They sounded great and will sound better on the Jot and as I get better gear so at least thereās that right? the Audezes are so easy to push I wouldnāt be able to measure them like the HE6SE so at least thereās that, right?
When i ordered my HE6seās @M0N warned me they would need power from a proper speaker amplifier, i took it as a challenge knowing i owned several clean and powerful amplifiersā¦well, he was right and it cost me both time and money in order to maximize what i could get out of these headphones.
For example, they play fine on an Emotive BasX running beast mode. When iām too lazy to power up one of the big amps I occasionally play them off the Emotiva and they perform acceptably, BUT i donāt feel like I am listening to premium $1500 headphones built to give you an experience. How do i know this? Well, because i have the ability to direct A/B them to powerful speaker amps and different sources.
Short answer, you can play these off 3-4 watts, they scale better between 140-250 watts. Good listening.
On the Emotiva would you do the direct mode or use the speaker adapter for the HE6SE? Also with that speaker adapter would be okay to connect my Argons and HD 650?
Using the speaker adapter with other headphones is fine as long as they are balanced
I guess also Iām asking with that adapter is it worth removing the jumpers on the Emotiva as you are essentially creating that with the Hifiman adapter, correct? Thereās resistors inside to protect the cans?
Basically does that adapter turn the Emotiva into a balanced headphone adapter? I know you arenāt a fan of that particular model but Iām limited in space.
Ah, so the hifiman adapter presents a load of 4-8 ohms to your amp, and also has something in there to protect them from what I hear. With the emotiva jumpers removed, it goes straight to the speaker amp and will present the load of the headphones you plug in. Using either is fine, they will most likely sound the same if you use the adapter on the a100 or use the jumpers removed headphone out. Itās not bad, I do think it would get the job done better than the jot, but I do think there would be more that can be had as @Nick_Mimi points out
I mean of course. Audio works that way, right? Better/different amps enhance guitars too.
If I happen across a $1800 Les Paul for $700 its great to play it through a vintage Marshall stack but if all I can afford for now is a Fender Twin you donāt return the Les Paul. You play it on the amp you got with the hope in the future you will get better gear and peal off layers of awesome that guitar can do.
I went to box them up to send back because I was upset I wonāt be able to maximize them then I remembered my guitar playing days. Iāll have these cans for life, I got a great deal and by reading a bunch last night got lucky and got one of the good sets and my box was sealed with everything. Iāve got 10 pairs of headphones, itās a journey.
When I get more space and get speakers Iāll have headphones waiting to leap into that badass speaker amp Iāll buy.
Thanks for all your help Mon, the Emotiva is my Twin (it arrives Monday), I will someday hook these bad boys into a stack. One day. And isnāt that what all this is about? Rediscovering your gear can do other things by pairing it with other gear? Thatās honestly what I miss about playing guitars that my headphone hobby has sort of replaced.
Also all of this stuff can be sold rather quickly on the AvExchange or returned so itās worth trying out.
Yeah you still get a headphone thatās pretty dang sweet in the end anyway. The journey is the fun part, but donāt get too sucked in lol
Hahahahahaha! Bruh that ship sailed.
Hey canā you recommend a good tutorial on using EQ APO?
I personally donāt know what tutorials are out there, but if you make a thread in here Iām sure someone can help you out (or just search through here as Iām sure itās been brought up before)
