Iām mixed I the Sundara. Sometimes it sounds really good to me, and sometimes it feels off a bit. Like all the pieces of the music are there, but they just donāt quite get put together correctly. Probably a bad explaination, but I just canāt quite articulate it.
Yea. It lacks musicality and intimacy in a bad way. That was my big problem. It shows you the music, but doesnāt pull you in. Showing the music for $350 thoughā¦thatās rare afaik
Hahahaha, yes if you amp them properly. Those are what are on my head right now.
Another instance of the gilmore > mlp for me. Eikons single ended via the gilmore rival my clear in everything except separation / clarity of imaging.
Also, take note that even though the eikons are āall-genreā headphones, they donāt have the speed required for metal, the bass required for edm, or the airiness required for classical. They are fantastic all-rounders. However, the best thing for them is acoustic music and folk. Small live concerts are a goddman treat on these.
See I wouldnāt put my focals on the mlp if someone paid me lol. They lose the precision that is so endemic of the focal house sound. Like the punch and smoothness are nice, but you get it at the expense of response, transients, and detail from what I hear. Some headphones (like the hexv2) benefit from it, and some lose out (eikon is already plenty ānaturalā). For the sundaras I think that they donāt need that naturalness. Their problems are not amp solvable (in my limited experience).
Now that I can see. Should be similar to what the gilmore would do to them.
Lol. Yea. Iām all mids, all neutrality, all punch, all dynamics, all timbre. If any of the above are not checked, the headphone sounds off. The stuff I currently have checks all those boxes.
The sundara are neutral, but lack all of the rest. The focals only ālackā timbre, but more than make up for it in all of the other categories. The ZMF is the standout. 11/10 all of the above (though I wish separation and imagin were better). The hexv2 on the mlp nails it (though I wish the presentation were slightly more intimate). I would rather keep the good parts of the cans than try to trade them to make up for the bad parts (a la focal on mlp).
Again, in my limited experience. Iāll reiterate that as many times as I have to lol.
@Bmn1251 thereās a lot of comments here about your new cans and not all positiveā¦ if I could just interject and suggest you use them with no eq on the asgard 3 (a pretty highly regarded pairing for the sundara) and just enjoy them for a bitā¦ tell me to take a hike if you like lol but id try not to get too caught up in othersā opinionsā¦ theyāll burn in a bit too (nothing drastic) and so will your ears ā¦ theyāre excellent headphone
I agree with this. They are absolutely excellent headphones. I loved them while I had them.
Pay no mind to those of us who have āascendedā <ā read with heavy sarcasm. Seriously. Weāre just shooting the shit tbqh.
To amend this, the sundaras are my default rec. If someone wants to spend $500 on headphones, I donāt know if thereās anything more āhi-fiā and enjoyable for everyone under that price (excepting sale elegias. Fuck they are great).
All this dialogue is great and ive been having a blast diving in to the hifi world. I like to hear peoples opinions and compare them to my own. Not swayed/discouraged at all. Iām pretty happy with all my gear and i love sharing it with friends and family too. Some love the sound and some hear no difference lol
right on and I didnāt mean to point fingers or dissuade further conversation but talk about different headphones and eq and upgrades and multiple amps lol I was overwhelmed just reading it
Hahah yea i wanted to just set myself up as far as amps go and then just journey through headphones for awhile. Iām enjoying my k712 and sundaras and will till I stumble upon another good headphone deal
