Thank you!
Hi,
I have a hifiman sundara but.
The left driver stopped working literally overnight. ,
I tried to inverse the jack . So I plugged the (r) jack3.5 to the (l) driver and still nothing.
While on the right driver, the left jack worked.
So the problem isnāt the cableā¦
I donāt know if it s the connector or if itās actually the magnets or something elseā¦
Is there a way to test?
I donāt know what to do ,the guarantee expired
What can I do ?
So, my Sundara replacement unit just arrived. My question is if thereās a stealth magnetic revision for Sundara too or is it just a myth? Canāt find much info on the internet about it. I cannot open the box yet but if this stealth revision is real is there a practical way to verify it?
The only āstealthā revision was called that because they secretly changed pads. Driver hasnāt changed ever.
Thanks for the response. Itās good to know. Iāve read on reddit a while ago that someone got the āstealth MAGNETā revision of the Sundara and it sounded weird to me, cause I knew that only HE400SE has stealth magnets. I think he meant to say stealth revision or something.
I would open it up and check if itās just a loose wire as thereās been quite a few cases of bad soldering jobs.
Hi guys, i have a newbie question:
Can the Tempotec E35 drive those?
I had not used the Sundaras for a while, so I took 'em out for a spin last night. But they sounded off, somehow. Just kind of hollow and flat. Definitely not what I remembered them to be. At first I thought it was because I have been listening to other cans and my ear was off. But it was more than that; these things were lacking fidelity. Something was wrong.
Right off the bat I decided to replace the balanced cable I had on there with the one I had on the new HP-2ās. And BOOM! - They completely woke up! In fact, they sounded better than I ever remember them sounding. I have never had a cable go ādeadā on me before, but there it was. Problem solved. But now I am down a cable.
I donāt know why, but suddenly I thought āWhat about the Stock Kennerton cable that the HP-2ās came with? I know it isnāt balanced but Itās a great cable and I bet it would sound great on the SP200.ā So I installed it on the Sundara. First off, this cable looks killer on these cans! Then I connected them to the TA-20/SP200 combo at the SP200ās 6.3mm SE jack. Holy Shit. They sound incredible on there! This Preamp/amp combination continues to surprise and impress. The Sundara loves it.
I never thought the Sundara would sound this good when running single ended. I was wrong. This particular pairing is fantastic. I think I am going to use the wordā¦ Synergy! This grouping has it. Moral of the story? The Sundara can go single ended and perform very well. Iāll probably get another balanced cable in at some point, but Iām not in any rush.
80mw into 32 Ohms. Hmmā¦ Iām not sure that will get the best out of them. As mentioned above, I am throwing a good amount of juice at them to get them humming. This is just my experience, however. That E35 looks pretty cool, though.
Due to Sundaraās weight I have to get a more lightweight daily headset. I will keep the Sundara for shorter auditions. I was thinking of Sennheiser HD600 (theyāre about 30% lighter) but I heard bad things about their soundstage, is it really that bad compared to Hifiman headphones? I used to own a HD560s and Iāve had headaches from how congested and in my head everything sounded.
Is it possible to save up a little more cash and get the EDXS?
But itās some 40g heavier than the Sundaras.
You might want to get your hands on a set to try it. I can tell you from personal experience it does not feel heavierā¦
just get some ksc75 if weight is that much of a problem
I already have a KHP30i and Iām happy with them for what they are but I wouldnāt listen to music more than 30 minutes on them cause I have much better IEMs for that, theyāre great for gaming though.
So, Iām looking for a medium weight pair (150g - 300g) that is technically apt and doesnāt have a congested soundstage, even if itās not quite as good as the Sundara. The Sennheiser HD 600 (270g) looks great but Iām afraid they might be similar to the HD 560S, which gave me headaches with how shouty and congested they sounded (imo) lol.
yeah the 560s are way wider than the 600, the 600 line is probably more like the kph30i stage wise, the 560s did give me headache but it was more about how clampy and bright they were tho.
Honestly I donāt think thereās something that compares to the sundara in stage and sound quality but weights less, youād probably have to downgrade in somethingā¦
Iāve been lusting for the Sony Ma900 which are discontinued and impossible to get where I am, those maybe look like what youāre looking for, thereās the audio technica r70x which supposedly compares to the hd600 and are super light but idk how the soundstage is in those
Iāve decided to get the AKG K712 Pro, a very European choice, relatively cheap here as well ~ 250 usd. Theyāre said to sound great all across the frequency range and have huge soundstage with excellent imaging. Fingers crossed.
Youāve got a win on the soundstage front with those. The presentation is much different than HD6__ series, which as others wisely indicated is probably the tightest open-back soundstage youāll find, more-so than the 560s. Theyāre great for some things, but actually freaks me out at times. An interesting āotherā reco if someone liked Hifiman planar characteristics and wanted broad staging, lighter clamp and lighter weight - the Drop exclusive 5xx. I bought that on-release when I was EXACTLY looking for a diversion from high-anxiety HD6__ soundstage tightness, and it delivered. I do not think it is as technically capable as Sundara, however.
The K712 sounds boosted in the lows and upper mids, no doubt. I canāt really think of an over ear that sounds the same, even more so with that soundstage, so at least itās unique in that regard.
