Yeah, the āofficialā answer has always been that it doesnāt permanently damage the drivers, but I have my doubts. With all of the new driver materials coming out, I donāt think anyone can truly say that driver flex wonāt damage any of them. Either way, the prudent thing is to try to avoid causing it as much as possible.
My first pair of BL03s developed a severe channel imbalance suddenly. I had already owned if for a while. It never resolved, and Iām a bit suspicious that driver flex MAY have caused it. But I donāt know for sure.
My set came in. Can already say Iām happy with this purchase. Using with dekoni foam tips right now because theyāre my default for fit, but I will be trying out some others that I have here at a later date. Sounds excellent balanced off the hiby r5.
I first tried them with the stock tips and I did experience the driver flex, however they fall out of my ears with the stock tips anyway. With the dekoni foams, no driver flex issues.
I like these enough already that I think Iāll be selling my oh10s, which is a big deal for me.
Still no channel imbalance on my new IT00. But Iām babying the hell out of them, (not pushing them very hard and I try inserting them into my ears without causing driver flex).
The IT00 is a very good sounding and performing IEM. It has a balanced FR and is very fast. I just hope the physical issues were isolated issues. Still difficult to recommend though especially when the FH3 exists.
My pair developed an imbalance roughly 30 hours of listening in, Iām now at the 100 mark and they are perfect with no signs of imbalance, never had this issue with other pairs of IEMs other than when they have a faulty cable but Iām glad I kept hold of them
Yeah, I mean I think it was a problem with my connection honestly, but moving the wires around did nothing, was listening to a SACD rip from a friend at the time and thought Jesus this sounds awful yet the problem persisted with other songs, unplugged them, sent an email to the supplier about it. Next day plugged them in did a sine sweep and found 0 faults been listening to them since and had no problems, havenāt had any driver flex or any of the other problems discussed above either, like I said Iāve never had this happen before.
Just thinking about the imbalance issues again, took another look at the shell construction and was thinking maybe the bonding between the face plate and shell could be the problemā¦a seal break there caused by pressure/driver flex might well be the answer?
Trying the FH3 cable on the IT00. The channel imbalance still exists. If I run these for a few days and it continues, I think Iāll just toss them. IBasson doesnāt seem to want them back.
Did you try swapping to the other pair of nozzle filters? This sounds like it might be the same problem that BLON BL03, Moondrop, and many others have with moisture.
