IEM discussion thread (Part 1)

I think for that price range, there isn’t much V shaped iem right?

V shaped iem usually in the budget category /price range.

This senn might be the only v shaped iem, that also very expensive :joy:

Around the 1k mark you have a lot of the Hyla iems (stronger v), fir vxv (subtle v), empire ears almost everything (typically stronger warmer v), most of the 1k ish rhapsodio like the zombie or solar (generally warmer v), some of the jomo like the quatre (mild v), the sony ier z1r is a good example of a fairly decent v, I think the higher end qdc typically end up leaning reasonably v shaped, a lot of the faudio are tuned more toward v, and so on. There are a fair amount of higher end iem that lean more toward v than you’d expect. Also I’d personally say a lot of the harman tuned iems also lean more v than not in base form anyways aside from the more traditional v tuning (although if harman counts as a v shape tuning is another story, it does imo).

I think you’ll find lots of more v shaped tuning in most price categories for iems, the difference is that the budget v typically aren’t well tuned and aren’t polished enough to where that v tuning becomes a problem, but a well tuned and capable v shape iem can be pretty great

Ej07m seems to closely resemble Harman. Nearly identical price.

DD sets are so interesting to me. I haven’t yet to own a Single DD set, my mele is on its way. I can’t wrap my head around a single DD set being $1000,$2000 honestly. I would absolutely love to listen to a set one day to understand the coherency of a DD set.

I’m looking forward to more reviews of the 600, however. I enjoy Crin and I trust his reviews, but I would love to see @hawaiibadboy review this set as his tastes and library are similar to mine.

I see. Got it. Understand.

ditto, i’ve been spoiled by multi BA, hybrids, and tri-brid configurations. I still might give the Z1R a go at some point.

The Z1R will forever pique my interest. It’s a legend at this point and if Sony somehow manages a way to make a replacement of the Z1R with a more comfortable shell, they’ll have a winner. That’s all I ever hear about it … End game bass - extremely uncomfortable.

Can attest to that  Best IEM/headphone bass I’ve heard, amazing treble extension and imaging/soundstage, clear natural mids (can sound thin if fit isn’t right). I would’ve bought it if it didn’t kept falling out my ears every 15 minutes :smiling_face_with_tear:

Ever since Crin wrote that ЕJ07m is N / A and other tribrids have been rated well above 07m, I haven’t watched his reviews or believed him since. It has a strange sense of sound and technical characteristics. I don’t know how he gave A + to Senn, very doubtful.

This is a subjective game and the default reaction, is to distrust or disagree with those who don’t like your IEM favourites.
In his ears, he didn’t hear a fantastic IEM listening to the EJ07m.

Re the Senn ie600, I think he said it was the first out of many Senn IEMs he likes. And hinting he was payed to say that (because he didn’t like the EJ07m?) seems very far fetched: especially if you haven’t heard it yourself - you may like it

Isn’t that why he said he actually liked it? It is the only senn IEM that doesn’t have that odd upper mids recession

FR is not everything. I hope there is no recession!

I purchased Kinera Norn a while ago and thought I’d share my impressions here since I could not find much info about them on this forum.

The IEM looks good and comes with a leather case, some tips, 2.5 Balanced Cable & 2.5F to 3.5M & 4.4M adapters.

It has a slightly V-Shaped sound signature. It’s got elevated but clean Bass (not Basshead level) with good texture. The Mids are clean, detailed and somewhat recessed, they do somewhat suffer from the “BA timbre”, but it’s not too bad. Treble has a very good balance of smoothness and crispness, with excellent timbre for different instruments. Higher frequencies are smoothed out enough to not sound harsh but at the same time don’t sound dull or lacking in energy. The soundstage is above average with fantastic Imaging and layering.

Compared to the Blessing 2, I much prefer the Norn. Bass is mostly the same with minor difference between both the IEMs. The B2 has somewhat forward Mids and can get shouty, while Norn has a bit more body and is recessed (never sounded lacking). Detail is mostly equal on both but Imaging and layering is a lot better on Norn. Instrument tone & timbre is also better on Norn while B2 has a smidge better Vocal tonality. Both do not have organic Vocals, more on the clean & details side of things.

TL;DR Want clean, detailed, resolving IEM with wide soundstage and good imaging, get Norn. Stay away if you want Mammoth bass, like forward or warm/organic Mids, are severely treble sensitive.

Kinera’s latest Tribrid. Maybe a direct competitor to the IEMs like Monarch and Variations.

Thank you for your impression :+1:

2EST, 2DD, and 1BA… I’m intrigued

Curious to how it graphs. Hope it’s not too v-shaped lol.

Here’s the graph. Not an expert in graphs, but the subass looks nice to me.

Yea. He posts his reviews on headphonelist.com

So sub-bass boost, scoop for vocals, and smooth treble  Seems like EJ07’s with vocal scoop and more sub/mid-bass. Will have to wait for more graphs and reviews, but it does look stunning though.

Currently we only do custom tunings for EJ07M and up
