Don’t have it yet, I was looking for a good EST IEM recently, something that’s warm, has elevated bass but still resolving and someone at Head-Fi recommended it to me. I was considering XENNS UP before but was hesitant about it’s resolution.
I’ve already got Tea 2 and Hook-X on order so I’ve held off on purchasing the Volt, atleast untill I get these two IEMs.
Those were my primary concerns and why I waited for more reviews.
I have the Timeless and S12, so I don’t need another planar unless it is going to wow me in some way. Olina and OG Tea are really my two favorites, with the S12 and Timeless being after them in my rotation. I am really enjoying this part of my journey, I get to be patient and content with my gear.
Only the bass shelf was truly needed. Stock tuning has a bit of sizzle to it and bringing the bass up really helped to balance it out. I’m just sensitive to the upper treble spikes so flattening those out really helped me.
I have the Globe’s but from what I have observed the Volts retain the Penon house sound with the Smooth Sonion EST energy the Globe’s miss. I bought the EJ07M Lava instead because I already have a Penon but the Volts were on the short list.
The other thing too is that I’ve only heard the timeless so i don’t have any other planars to compare it too really. My first listening session with them really reminded me of the og teas but with a bit less sub bass and more treble.
I am too, and I was curious if people were hearing them, or if they were just helping sound stage. Sometimes those are hard to tell from a graph.
It sounds like the Dioko is a less refined S12, which was a brighter take on the Timeless to my ears, but wasn’t hot anywhere that bothered me.
Speaking of, did people see that Zeos has a new Z12 coming out that is an S12 with some extra bass. I always liked the S12 with a small bass shelf for classic rock, so this might be just the ticket.
I have almost stopped listening to my timeless all together because it has very noticeable channel imbalance. I’ve mostly been using teas so going from those that are relatively dark to the dioko is a big jump in treble.
Sorry to hear about your channel imbalance. After listening to Tea, even Olina seems pretty bright to me, so not surprised that the Dioko seems like a big jump.
I really like the OG Tea, and I would rate it as my favorite IEM.
The channel imbalance is funny too because I didn’t notice it for the longest time and one day I’m just like “huh, what’s going on here?” Teas are definitely up there as one of my favorites. They are just the jack of all, master of none.
Not sure if the peak around 8k would sound sibilant to me. If it has the same price tag like the S12 it’s gonna be a solid option for classic rock/hard rock/old-school thrash.
I have been listening to my Lava non stop for the past few weeks and love them so much.
That being said today I got in a pair of CHU threw some Tanya filters and Final e tips and really understand what some love them as I liked the smoothed sound.
Also today got in a never heard of before blind buy purchase… And have never been more blown away! $20
I happened to read on some forum a few reviews saw the graph and thought what the hell I sold all my MMCX IEM and have a HiBy WU1 MMCX and a shit ton of crazy MMCX cables. I just wanted a Bluetooth option when cooking and thought I would try what the UAT codec from HiBy can do with the HiBy R6 2020.
So on they go with 5.5mm 300 filters as was recommended with the Spring Tips that just happened to come with the CHU. The WU1 actually connect with UAT and fired them up.
Sound like my Obsidian seriously tighter bass and still not to forward or to dark vocals. This is out of box no burn in and wireless WTF.
If you like slam, you like vocals good soundstage not terribly wide but great separation and have a extra $20
Only crevat MMCX which is actually really good quality connections and does not come with a cable give theese a try seriously fun!
Oh and yes they sound like they graph!

These are Penon’s most technical, clean and detailed IEMs I heard. The balance in tuning is outstanding. Never fatiguing. Just right. Bass, mids and treble balance is outstanding. I never heard the Dark Magician or the Oxigens , so take that as you will.
These are very well complementary to the lush, warm sound of the Serials. For me these are good allrounders. The very small shells are excellent for bedtime use. The DD driver is of high quality. So no cash grab. Penon delivers exactly what you pay for - as always.
Right now Dunu and Penon are the most trustworthy manufacturers of quality IEMs in my experience.
