Hana 2021 seems more right up my alley. I mainly listen to kpop and occasional Jazz and Orchestra. I did like the Kato but since the Hana 2021 is not far off and it’s cheaper, I may get that instead
I also felt and hold the Kato the other day, it sure is slightly weight-y.
Am I completely mistaken/delusional (quite possible these days!), or do I recall some fine person on this forum recommending a 150 filter on top of the stock Olina nozzle, plus another 150 on the vent?
(If so, apologies to said fine person for not remembering and giving credit. If not, then yeah, I’m dreaming.)
I don’t listen to IEMs that much these days, but when I do, it’s the Olina with this combination.
No? I’ve been mele-ing for office use for the longest time. FD5 for outdoor walks and Variations for home and cafe/audio shop DAP demos. Those are all I’ve got.
I may opt for something cheaper like the Olina or even the Aria at this rate to save a bit more cash but I definitely know my A55 hates bright IEMs. The FD5 was unbearable with it and the Shanling M3X helps a bunch to reduce the “bright-ness” of the FD5 somehow.
I mean it could be, depends on the library you’re listening to. You would be surprised there are other people from different places with different cultures that coincidentally have the same interests as you.
Isn’t the Titan S bright and lacks bass? Dunno if that would be good for kpop and the A55
@Kalnet Don’t get the Aria. It’s meh and overhyped. Olina is way better. Do the double filter mod and you’re good to go Really good for pop and orchestral
Just wondering what the modded Vortex is… I have them, and they already sound very good to me as they are. I listen using ePro small ‘horn’ tips, which seem to fit my dinky ears better than other tips I’ve tried.
After listening to the Vortex for a few weeks, I decided to get the Serials, too… using the same tips on those, also. The Serial is a nice complement to the Vortex, particularly in the bass (which is already very satisfying on the Vortex), so now I switch between the two often.
The mod is just to remove the filters off of the back vent on the Vortex. This substantially boosts sub bass and gives a minor bump to mid-bass. I had both the Serial and Vortex at one point and every now and then I would reach for the Serial when I wanted some sweet bass but I couldn’t quite get over the lack of treble.
After the mod, the Vortex (imo) had superior sub bass and close enough mid bass to render the Serial obsolete for my library.
I can get my head about sub-bass quantity increasing after the mod, but superior throws me for a loop! I’m very excited to try it.
I’m seeing people putting very expensive tribrids for sale that have in other places posted about how amazed they are my their modded Vortex. That says something.
The Serial has my favorite bass (total package) out of any IEM, and I thought the Vortex’s mid-bass was excellent. So again, excited to hear.
I don’t think I’ve seen any feedback on the mod where they didn’t like it or reverted.
