Got the A7 to hold me over till the Meteor got here, this is the first IEM I’ve had where I feel like it’s just straight bad
This is going back immediately, thank god I have my Olina to back it up

Hey kamron, yes I have but from what I recall it didn’t meet my preference in terms of sound. Super versatile iem but the bass was a bit off/different, mids were wonky and the highs were dialed down… All from the perspective of the a6. But ultimately it’s about taste, you may like as my friend did in his workout sessions.
Riku, based on what I’m reading, the elysian x might also be a candidate for it to be a possible upgrade. But those are super elusive in the used market as well. Does anyone have any experience with the elysian x?
Yeah I listened for a few hours last night it honestly just sounds like a mess, vocals are nice but everything else sounds like it’s stuck in the mud and when tracks get busy it gets pretty bad
What specifically are you looking to know about the X? I had one on demo for a bit from a friend, and while it was good, I ended up not really wanting to get one myself, didn’t really think it did much over what I already had. I honestly preferred the tuning of the annihilator, and from a technicalities perspective while the x is a general uplift and refinement, I didn’t think it matched the price increase compared to other iems in that range
Thank you M0N, Maybe a quick sound impression/description would help if you recall. Like reading /Having different perspectives from folks.
Signature wise I’d say it’s a warmer v shape with more of a recession in the upper mids than lower with the anilihator. I like it, it’s a good casual all rounder tuning.
Quick note on drivability, will suck a lot of juice, harder to drive for sure to get things moving well, but at the same time it’s actually not too picky about what powers it, it will scale and deserves a quality source, but it also couldn’t scale as much as others in the segment
It’s a very grandiose and spacious sounding iem, really impressive width, and better depth than the annihilator but not quite there with other options as it lacks some of the placement accuracy and stage coherency for others in the price point. But very fun and still accurate enough to not be a problem for me for the space and scale it gives things that might not have it naturally
Bass has more weight and feels richer than the annihilator, but still more tight, speedy, and textured leaning, very technical for sure, this time with a more subbass focus and also has more organicness as well, real win here, hits real hard but doesn’t “slam” in the traditional sense, it’s able to be pretty tight aand technical while still sounding properly convincing and not overdone. Pretty awesome
Mids are good but really not great for the price, all I really have to say there, they take a backseat to everything else overall, they’re somewhat
Treble is less intense than the annihilator but has better presentation that still keeps the energy up, very coherent here and pretty liquid which is interesting. Lots of information to pull but presented in a very inoffensive yet energetic way, nice. It’s not the most organic treble I’ve heard, but it feels like it takes the most advantage of the estat drivers for what they are best at, but I’m still not fully sold here either
Tonal density is tilted a bit more weighty here solving the slight dryness of the annihilator, also from a smoothness perspective it’s better in that regard which does really help
Resolving power is very high, and reasonably well presented but it isn’t as organic as I’d want it to be for the price, but still a lot of information that’s inoffensively presented
Timbre is… off. Pretty off, more off than it should be for an iem of this caliber, it just really gives a very unnatural sound to most instruments, it’s not that big of a problem in more inorganic stuff, but for more organic music it really is noticeable and it bothers me. Something in the time domain is wonky
Dynamics are real solid when it comes to macro, but there’s something about the micro that really makes it seem somewhat off, and that could be adding to the overall unnaturalness that can happen with this iem despite other aspects that typically would go against this, there’s just something off on how it presents dynamics that also gets to me, think it’s lacking somewhat when it comes to micro
Speed and separation are actually dialed back from the annihilator a bit, which does lend it to being more organic and less jarring (but also less stand out) from the annihilator, still very high performing here though
Extension is excellent in both directions so no concerns there
It’s a well done forgiving casual listening iem taken to 11 basically, but I’m not sure if it’s for me. It’s just something that I can totally fuck with for some of the stuff I listen to, and then be let down with others, which is normal with other iems but this one lets down in a different way. It’s forgiveness and inoffensiveness doesn’t dull things or make them boring, but it instead represents things in a way that makes them sound somewhat artificial and somewhat homogeneous, that while not insanely severe of a problem (and potentially even an upside for some), still is a major qualm for this price point for me and what I want out of an iem. It just sounds fairly mechanical in most aspects imo. I can see some loving this iem, but at least in my collection I’m somewhat struggling on deciding if I’d have any place for it. This does sound overly negative, but it do really enjoy this iem and in some aspects it’s up there, but I think this is just the wrong audience sorta thing
Just picked the annihilator as a comparison point since I mentioned it beforehand and it’s an easy comparison, but if you want a comparison with a different iem I could do that if I’ve heard it
Wow this is great. Such an eloquent description of the sound :). would love to have the skill and knowledge about the sound to know how to write something like this. Thank you very much. Below are some of the iems I have owned that stood out for me, maybe we can draw a parallel if you have heard any of them ( Moondrop Variations, Mangird xenns up, Audio 64 u12t, fir m5, Kinera nanna (1.5), Fir xe6
VE phonix, VE ext, Moondrop blessing 2 dusk Sony xba-n3, CA supermoon, tripowin hbb olina, kinera baldr, CA aras, akg n5005, jh Roxanne, CA Andromeda EE legend x se, z1r, LETSHOUER s12, 7hz Timeless, Letshouer ej07, um mest mk2, jvc+drop FDX1, Audeze lcd i4, raptgo hook x, jh v13, Blon BL03, lz a6, Thieaudio Monarch mk2 , Sennheiser ie600, noble sultan, qkz x HBB)
But it sounds like I would definitely need to try it before buying. Can jam might be my best option at this point.
Out of that bunch I’ve only heard the variations, b2 (non dusk), n3, u12t, m5, xe6, n5005, Andro, z1r, timeless, mest MK2, fdx1, i4, v13, bl03.
From an overall tier and technicalities perspective I think it’s a tier above all except perhaps trading some blows with the xe6 (although I’d say the x is still an overall more technical set). I’m still super mixed on how I feel about the xe6 though lol
I’d say in some respects signature wise I might draw some parallel to the signature of the z1r, the staging of the xe6 and andro, the bass and speed of the mest. Although really none of them remind me of the overall package of the x
Absolutely if you can. Out of curiosity what would you be driving them with?
Hehe I have the same dilemma with the xe6. First time I listened to it… I’m like something is off. The mids were just way too thick. But the more you listen to it the more you get used to it. Love love that bass though, my goodness. But at the end the mids just were not for me.
I Really like that the stage is big :). But if the mids are anything like the z1r I’m almost certain that I will not like it. Just way too recessed for my taste.
I usually use my mojo + fiio m11. I also have an Hugo 2 on the way. Hehe love that chord sound.
And we fall for it like suckers every time
It’s so much fun, but yes I agree way too rich, and just overly exaggerated in many ways lol. I could have kept myself keeping it for how cool it is, but I much prefer my mmr thummim for something warmer, richer, and fun that’s vary spacious with great bass slam and wight without going overboard, kinda think that does what I want out of the fir in a better way for me
Yeah I’d agree the z1r is too recessed, while I would call the X recessed somewhat, it’s not to the extent of the z1r imo, so I wouldn’t count it out for that at least. But if you do want something mid forward, the x isn’t going to be the pick
nice nice, should be great
Quick review of the Penon Serial by Michael Bruce: Penon Serial IEM Impressions and Review - YouTube
Uh oh…looks like the package has been stuck in a warehouse. It’s been a few days now. Should I be concerned? Anyone had similar experiences shipping to China / Letshouer in the past?
It depends on the situation but I have seen it in the past that they stay in the warehouse until the receiver acknowledges that is there and agrees on the next action ( instead of the carrier delivering to the address) .I have sent several packages to China that unfortunately got sent back because of this reason. Whether it is to pay customs, another fee or process problem. Double check with UPS to see if this is what they are waiting on.
The worse is USPS though, they abstain from any responsibility and make you call the local Chinese post office to sort things out. It never works in my experience lol.
Mine was held up in the same location for a few days. My issue ended up being the related to the VAT being paid. Hopefully seeing they prepared your shipping label it’s just a matter of them acknowledging the package. Once my issue was resolved the delivery was made with in two days.
