I have consulted fq graphs in the past, specially when it as harder for me to tell the difference in sound when comparing two iems. Like the Kinera Mount Nanna and akg n5005. I used to love that sound of the nannas and found the akgs for sale (even though it was 1k msrp they had a sale for 250) and decided to give them a try. They sounded extremely similar, just that the tonality was slightly different in the mids but it was really hard to tell. As it turns out the fq graph was almost identical but decided to return the akgs because the proprietary mmcx connector was very wonky ( went through two pairs).

But I agree, it is best listen :). I’m just curious as to how the lz a6 graphs look like.

That looks very similar, if not exactly the same, to the one I have.

Thank you very much. This is great, it looks like they’ll do the trick. I’ll try them out.

Happy to help, as always.

Let me know how your measurment experiment turns out, if you don’t mind. And remember, when you first get the rig assembled you’ll have to play around a bit to find a way that works for you for getting consistent and relatively accurate measurments. There are actually quite a few articles and YouTube videos floating around that have some good tips for that kinda thing.

Excellent hehe this should be a lot of fun. Right up my alley. I usually like to tinker with gear when I have time. I have a modded mojo with changed caps, we went Cap rolling for a while and found a winning combo that made the mids sound super sweet with certain iems (u8t, nanna, VE ext). Sometimes it will fix the iems but sometimes it will not. And it needs to have an external/clean power source.

You will be the first to know the results  once they are ready. Thank you so much.

Hey forgot to mention if you going to look for a pair of lz a6 in the used market. I did have issues with moisture which can be addressed by changing the positioning of the filter to the back of the adapter and getting a better mesh (LZ A6/A6 mini discussion and review thread | Page 28 | Headphone Reviews and Discussion - Head-Fi.org). There is also problems with driver flex (only when putting them on, no big deal) as well as with the mmcx connectors were a bit too loose and it cause interruption when moving ( had to adjust the small metal barrel that makes contact with the pin the of cable, making it slightly smaller). Just an FYI in case you run into any issues.

Thanks for the heads up!

IIRC there is a pair of LZ A6 from a reputable seller on head-fi classifieds, based in Italy - had them up for €140 for months if you don’t mind dealing with customs

@Jawsq have you heard the A7 by any chance? I have them in coming in today just to fool around with before the my Meteors ship and it’s been kind of hard to find a lot of reviews on them

Sad news for a fellow A6 enjoyer. I have not found anything I would consider a “true” upgrade over it. (and mine is on the verge of death due to the damn mmcx…)

And no, the A7 is actually different from it, its not 100% you will enjoy it as well, even though it does share some traits.

I would say the closest sounding iem might be the Intime Sora Light 2019, that I have heard. So perhaps there is some hope in their (Intime) flagships being the one you would want (which I have not heard).

Example of a (previous) flagship from them:

As much as I love it, I cant really recommend it due to the number of people that have reported qc problems with it (mmcx iirc, like mine).

If you are truly desperate, and seeing that you have the wallet for it. Maybe the newest LZ AX is an option for you…

(I know nothing about this though.)

Thank you so much for this I have been super curious as to how the fq graph looks like. Man that’s a v shape if there ever was one. Hehe yeah mine also has mmcx issues, I had to tighting the metal tube in center of the connection for it to make contact with the pin of the cable. After that I was able to enjoy them freely. Maybe you have a similar issue? But yeah this is the only iem that had so many qc issues, the sound is so good though :). Hope it never breaks

Thank you so much

Mine is having disconnects if i move it slightly. Also spins like a beyblade…

Hehe you read my mind, I had my eyes on the ax when it was announced, I was waiting to hear something about it before pulling the trigger though. But if lz a6 is it, I have enjoyed the journey :). Not desperate as I’m still figuring out what I like/ not like, hoping I can be surprised.

The Lz a6 does definitely have room for improvement for my taste though. If you can combine the bass of the xe6, the mids of the xenns up and everything else from the a6 that would be pretty sublime.

I experienced the same issue of the disconnecting when moving slightly. Tightening the center tube slightly might help as it did for me. Below is a Pic. But not sure as to the spinning. As long as the pin the cable and the tube in the mmcx connection are making contact, it should not cut off the audio. But yes these mmcx connection are probably the worse in the business. I wish I had a 2 pin lol.

Hehe trying out new cable

Yeah, I hate mmcx so much…

Indeed I always prefer 2 pin if I can help it. It has its share of problems too but overall more long lasting and practical in my humble opinion.
