IEM discussion thread (Part 1)

Hey! I’m glad that trade worked out for you. Good thing we didn’t end up trading I guess haha

The shell on my Nanna broke today. I’m going to try to glue it back on, but if that doesn’t work I’m going to have to replace them. Problem is, I’ve not really been keeping up with IEMs because I’ve been perfectly happy with these. So I don’t really know what’s come out recently. I could just pick up the Nanna 2.0, which I’m certainly considering, but what have people been liking?

Under $1000 and will be paired with a Hiby RS6.

That’s funny, I just read your post about those on head fi (the discovery thread I think) and I didn’t know it was you, but I was thinking maybe that dude Jason on HifiGuides is on to something :joy:

Man the nannas were my favorite iems for a while. But after comparing with other iems they seem a little bright. At the end I couldn’t find a direct upgrade to that sound but I ended up replacing it with the lz a6 since I liked the sound better. I would say if you can find nanna 2.0 try it and see. Be careful though there is a couple of versions of it ( version 2 that is). The mount nanna vs the Imperial Nanna. They both look the same but the mount nanna has the same sound as the og with the aesthetics of the v2. Imperial Nanna has slightly improved sound in the treble region (more tamed) and aesthetics of the v2. You can tell by the color of the cable they come with ( Imperial is silver vs mount is copper)

So, I was digging through graphs and comparing things and stumbled across this “Miu” model from See Audio (1DD/2BA/2EST) that seems to graph almost impossibly well to the IEF Neutral with a healthy bass rise:

Only to find it…almost nowhere on the internet, except for a Facebook post from April 2021, a video from @Timmy-Gizaudio previewing it but hearing that there will be different international tunings and some listings on JP sites for ¥87,000. This seems like something that should have a lot more buzz than…well, almost nothing. Going to be keeping my eyes open for this one!

Miu.

Sorry  :beers:

Crin graphed that in Japan so that might be the JP version. Also, the video I did is pretty old now. Not sure if SeeAudio actually went through with a different international version or not. If you want some more impressions, Precog wrote about it in his Canjam Singapore Day 1 post on Headphones.com

Anyone got any thoughts on the Shure KSE 1200’s just out of interest @M0N or any folks have a take on these? :+1: or :-1:

Simple question. Does anyone know what these kind of tips are called? These are on my Shenzhen GuideRay iems. They came with them and I don’t think I’ve see anything quite the same on the market. Or maybe I just don’t know the proper way to refer to them when searching. I usually have to change any imes I have to foam tips, because they just won’t stay planted in my ears. These tips have been the exception.

Double flange — I have some in this proportion too

Mainly only had experience with the 1500, and it’s been awhile so I can’t say much lol. I remember them having very forward speed and resolving power without being jarring, but they are pretty intense. More micro focused over macro, surprisingly neutral, and also probably still competitive at it’s price point today unlike some other shure iems lol. The internal dac was meh, better with a dap line out. Other than that, I never really got a ton of time with them, so I can’t say much more. I did kinda want to own them, but I didn’t like the closed system so I never really considered them. I’d say if you want something very neutral, clean, refined, and technical without being overdone, they’re probably worth a look. Can’t really give you any comparisons though lol

Already taken care of. Thanks for the info though.

These would probably work really well with the OH10 + some EQ. Super cheap too - Thanks for the Link!
