IEM discussion thread (Part 1)

Stealth pre-sales really get my goat. If there’s gonna be a wait, be up front about it.
I’m still waiting for any word on my SA6 Ultra (which was purchased on the 25th). Now that means (assuming they didn’t oversell somehow and cancel my order, as it sounds like has been the case on head-fi) I have to wait for 11.11 shipping times if it ever does ship.
My STORM was stated as a pre-order with a minimum 6+ week wait, so no surprises there.
One of these things upsets me, take a wild guess which one it is.

Does this help or do you need me to upload it to my squig?

Grey is my target.

I feel ya and I :100: agree. It bugs me so much that I always talk to any CS rep before purchasing new things.

Do I need to wait a week? Sure. But let me know before hand.

WOOOOOOOOW. Hats off for that set

I’m super interested to compare this to other IEMs. Would be most gracious to upload it.

This made me actually lol! Thanks for that. It’s been a tough couple of weeks and I needed that. :joy::+1::sunglasses:

Glad to be of service and hoping things get turned around for you soon!

The things I do for you guys…

I doubt this scale is correct, anyway.

Yes, something is incorrect. Delta between max and min value on Y (dB SPL) axis = 5dB would be probably the lowest spotted in any to-be-popular IEM by far

It’s probably double, id say

its odd because based on their graph it does only look like a 5db diff

Thanks a lot gentlemen @pylaczynski @nymz

Even their cursor value (bottom right of their screen) at 18600Hz being -35dB is wrong, so the X axis is wrong as well. So yes, typical marketing bollocks

Shame they couldn’t get the schedule work. No way I can/will buy one without 11.11 discounts.

Feedback on the Allure.
I listened to the Allures all day (>8h). They are very lush, smooth and perfectly balanced. I’d call them neutral with a light bass boost.
They are absolutely non-fatiguing. You can crank these up from time to time and you will not be surprised by sudden volume spikes.
They play in the same vein as the TRI HBB x Kai, Moondrop Aria, the new HZSound Heart Mirror PRO.
The driver sounds high quality aka good technicalities for a 99 USD set. Everything sounds natural and pleasing. The Allure’s smooth and lushness doesn’t equal low detail.
I find they have a perfect balance between details and lushness --for 99 USD mind you.
They provide great value for the asking price. Box and cable are decent too.

Quick comparisons

vs. the Kai: Kai sounds bassier, meatier while the Allure sounds slighty better refined in the mids and treble
vs. the Aria, Heart Mirror Pro: I find then Allure overall superior to my ears, due to that 10 khz dip maybe. Treble roll off is more even on the Allure.

In the end I’d take them over the Aria and Heart Mirror Pro. I find them equally good as the Kai.

I can’t understate enough how much that 10k dip is make or break for me in the sub $100 bracket. I don’t think DDs can do that cut the same amount of justice a BA or (I’d imagine) an EST can. And I don’t remember the S12 struggling with resolution even with that cut, though I never tried EQing that dip to see if it mattered.

But every sub-$100 set I’ve heard that does that 10k cut all suffers for it, to my ear.

I hope that 5k peak doesn’t show up in the production veion of the Mangird Top. Would sound odd.

Ummm graph looks similar with the GS AUDIO SE12 I just picked up. Or my wishful thinking as I love this set and it’s sound signature.

Not as much pinna gain but I love the curve of that un named IEM!:slightly_smiling_face:

TheDeafMonk?! Is that you?! If so, i just read your write up on the SE12 and I was super intrigued. If that’s not you, that’s some crazy coincidence!

Ha! :joy: amazing - literally I went from reading your write up on the SE12 over on HeadFi to here, seemingly a different dude, who just got the SE12 and has almost the same thing to say … needless to say, slight freak out moment :joy:
