Some people are just far far too emotional in general, dude - you can’t help em all that’s for sure!
Sorry for the continued almost spam comments to the thread, but I can’t not reply to everyone, i don’t know why
@nymz - listen, man - time is absolutely my worst enemy. I think it is everyone’s but from time to time, it comes to fight with a full suit of armor and a sword forged of the most hardened steel you could imagine. It’s tough. Balancing time with all of our responsibilities plus things like our hobbies becomes increasingly more difficult as more responsibilities are born (both figuratively and literally as you will soon find out ).
I personally appreciate all that do along with everyone else. I strive to balance my time like you one day!
I’ve tried many times in the other site. I just can’t do it. Even going and just browsing sometimes gets to my nerves. The chill nature of this forum and the respect given to everyone is awesome. There’s a few other hobby forums I frequent and this one is by far the least hostile and most helpful of them all. Really makes me wish we all lived closer and could meetup and have a mini CanJam Head-Fi Edition.
@MMag05 I absolutely agree, man. Head-Fi is a great resource to take advantage of because it is more active than this forum I’d say, but with that comes more variation with users and again, with that, comes more negative and not as trustworthy people.
I plan on going to Can-Jam in NY come February so I’m hoping some of us on here attend but honestly, you being in FL, that’s a stretch, so I don’t blame you for not making the flight. That can get expensive… for me, it’s as easy as driving for about 4 hours for the day and driving back so in terms of expenses, it’ll probably run me a total of $200 between gas, food and the admission.
That will be epic. Thats right around my 40th birthday. I’d probably be able to convince my wife but, it would be expensive. Despite how great it would be to meet some of you and hear the demos it’s a tough pill to swallow. A lot of money we could use for a family trip.
On the funny side I’d also have to buy winter clothing. I don’t even own a jacket or long sleeves and only have two pairs of jeans. It’s been a good 10 years since I last lived somewhere that got below 65. My entire wardrobe is pretty much my work uniforms and board shorts/shorts and short sleeve shirts.
That is very true, I’m not sure how much it would cost you for flight, hotel, food, new clothes even! ect. ect. Doesn’t really make much sense for you to leave FL just to come up to a cold, probably snowy NY for a vacation - pretty much defeats the purpose of taking a family trip.
I hope that one day we can all arrange something here in the states where it’s mostly feasible for everyone involved!
So just bought a couple of fiio cables an 8 core Pro cable with the colour indicators for left and right on the wrong sides talk about something simple confusing the crap out of a grown man…
The other a 4 core with magnetic connections a very elegant solution for swappable connectors
This is the KBear Qinglong graph. They were going for a bit of a bass-boosted Diffuse-Field thing. It’s kinda okay, but
…if they could’ve gotten it to HERE, then we’d have something different and good. We were so close, people.
Right, but RSV is all BA, it’s better quality drivers, and what 10x the price? KBear almost got it right in a 1DD for $70. But close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades
I’d like less midbass and 1.5-5K, and more treble extension… but of course they’re going to screw up the first one so they can release a retuned collab later duh
But that’s why I’m disappointed: The changes you’d want would make it more like a Cadenza, a Wan’er, etc. It would be closer to everyone else. I didn’t even think of that RSV comparison, but to get closer to that, they just need to raise the treble. a +5.0dB shelf past 5.5 would be pretty sweet
Anyone ever heard the Oriolus Szalayi? Looking mainly for thoughts on treble. Worried it may be a little to energetic or forward on cymbals and guitars for me based on some reviews. Any other general thoughts both good and bad would be appreciated. Got a chance to get one at a good deal.
I think the 1.5-5k elevation would kill me personally, but it’d be an unique set for sure
@MMag05 The eagle has landed. I repeat the eagle has landed.
I’m another victim of the generosity of the community. Someone decided I was not on the Naughty List and I deserved to be gifted two of the Legendary sets of lore…
I am in possession of the freaking Sony XBA-N3 and MDR-EX800STs. Umm WHAT???
Also, I started with the N3s and I didn’t make it through the first song without saying “These are a yes, dawg!”
This is gonna be fun
Thanks, Mag. I feel blessed
Well speaking of the devil from my DM. Make sure you throw some Spring Tips on the N3. Got the rec from @nymz and @Rikudou_Goku when I had it. Might not be your think but, at least try them once.
I don’t have spring tips, but TRI Clarions do similar kinds of things to that, so I’ll do that instead. The first tips I put on were my KBear Rosefinch stock tips which actually emphasis the mid-bass.
I’m diving face first in, baby!
Nice. The N3 was my go to for reggae and punk. The bass lines sounded glorious on them. Only reasons I parted with it was because I felt the Meteor had similarities in the bass shelf and presence. Just more textured. Also, since it’s discontinued I wanted someone else to experience the midbass bliss I felt with them on without paying the crazy price they are now. The N3 literally redefined what my idea bass curve is for most my music.
Edit: I believe it was @domq422 that mentioned you were a midbass fan when I was asking around.
I’m a fucking whore for midbass, that is right!
If I never A/B these with anything, I would be more than happy with what I’m hearing right now. But I’m gonna have to see how these match up with the other stuff I have.
But yeah, this is definitely eye-opening to the world you big spenders live in. If this can’t fully satisfy you, hi-fi and summit-fi must be a gas!
