oh hey look, almost identical from 200-2k
All good, brother. I’d like to apologize to you as well.
Edit: Oh and we’re definitely on the same page about this place not becoming like Head-Fi, haha.
That user “AmericanSpirit” is not trustable. Too much shilling on that brand (every day shilling on it) and he got the DTE500 for free from Penon.
Really excited to hear your take on the Legato @Rikudou_Goku! I might consider it as a budget base DD set. Hopefully it has enough treble extension for jazz and film scores even at low volume
I’m right there with you when it comes to the skepticism, brother. I didn’t realize he got the DTE for free from Penon to tell you the truth… regardless, his usual high praise at first didn’t make me bat an eye, that’s typical behavior from him, but the others speaking highly of the set got me truly interested. I know for sure Penon has some people in their pockets, but they surely can’t have this many.
I’m not sure. I have my skeptical hippo eyes on for sure, but the curiosity is burning.
At the end of the day, if we’re gonna find out anything about the set someone is gonna have to take the hit and be the first victim…I mean volunteer.
I did my service to the forum blind buying EA500. Who’s next?
I went in on the legato so I’m out!
Several iems were mentioned above. Are you referring to the Sound Rhyme SR5? If so, I can take the plunge.
By the way the Seeaudio Rinko is interesting as DD + Planar. Promises to be much cheaper…
EDIT: Saw Chris’ graph of it, OOF that gain… we’ll have to see what the finished product is like…
Quick update after a full day of listening with the Legato. I gotta say I am very impressed with this set! The whole experience revolves around the mid bass which is definitely boosted. mid bass thumbs hard on songs and its so satisfying. texture is impressive, especially for the amount of bass there is. In Jazzy Belle the bass line is just so satisfying, The bass goes between thumpy, snappy and rumbly and it’s all distinct and all intertwined very well. This is one of the best bass experiences I can remember, up there with the Serial and Maestro Mini.
The thing that really takes this IEM to another level is the treble. It’s smooth and natural while still being extended, which was my biggest gripe with the Serial. That combination of bass and treble comes to life with hip hop. This is my go to hip hop IEM now. Nothing I have sounds better for old school hip hop.
Short follow up on VE SIE.
Unfortunately in the long run I cannot use them comfortably in my ears for longer than 30 mins periods without pain (there must be some collision in this type of shell with my pinna). I had same story with Olina and Mele and those are having similar shape. Any of my previous words about the sound apply still, just the comfort got to the level those are not my first or even second choice of IEM (Erasmus just fitting like a glove).
Also I felt in love with MEST for the hundredth time, so that does not help either.
I would put them on classified for sale in EU. If anyone from Hifiguides would be interested I can get you some good deals as well
I don’t know how they did it, but XINHS X Akros Erasmus fits me like a glove as well. Like, better passive isolation than my TWS ANC lol. So good
This is also same shape as KZ stock housing so if one day they (kz products) would turn out amazing again that is a good sign
Uh oh. Tony’s out on these streets, popping off!!!
EDIT: $110 with the sales prices on Ali E, for 1+4…?
AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Andy with all respect is a part of the VE Cult in my opinion, but I would watch it and let you know how far I do agree. Btw he is responsible for amazing dongle madness blog and ranking.
Not that I believe in anything that he says about some sources being amazing and some not, but the work he has put there is truly astonishing and admireable!
Edit: I watched the video. I even decided to hurt myself today to see if I still feel (the physical pain of having SIEs in ear). And damn I do, but still now I don’t know if I want to get rid of them and longer. As initially I thought those are good for R n B, hadd rock and some more fun music today even delicate Andy Shauf’s latest album sound so great…
Kudos for Andy for the disclaimer of some kind of bias towards VE. Also I am soo happy about his impression of sound as it very closely match mine, or at least what I wanted to say in my “review” (I always think I have bad ear and can’t correctly name things in sound
One thing to note - I understand analogue as warm and with significant note weight in mid bass. I did not feel Sony’s DAPs which are widely considered as analogue sounding in same way though at all. Therefore I don’t know if we have the same expectations as him to call something analogue.
