How would you compare the treble to the pandas?
Iād need to A/B them when my Panda comes home. Been a bit since I listened to it. If your really interested shot me a reminder when the tour is complete.
Will do! The EST50 has always been an interesting offering to me but I havenāt had anything tangible to lean on until recently. It s hard to trust the folks at head fi about this stuff
@Rikudou_Goku sent me an awesome video on a GitHub project to run my own squigs database. Hopefully Iāll get a chance to work on it this weekend and get the IEMs currently in my possession uploaded to it. If anyone wants the text files of the IEMs as I graph them Iāll make them available. Then you can play around with them to compare to other IEMs. Just PM if anyone is interested in one as I get them graphed.
This may be hocus pocus but I feel like out of EST sets Iāve tried, the graph for treble is much darker looking than how they actually sound, and in my head thatās an āESTā thingā¦ but for all I know itās just a little BS theory based on limited experience.
The S12 is a beast with incredible performance for heavy music. Competes with tribrids for around $500-$600. In my opinion, it is the best planar out there right now.
If you want an upgrade then you should get the IE600. They have a similar tuning, but DD - they have a better timbre, better note sharpness, much better resolution, better dynamics, more refined sound with reduced treble extension (the graph shows the opposite), a little better separation and much better instrument placement! Everything about the IE600 is smarter. And letās not forget the sub-bass/mid-bass, which is captivating with just the right amount!
So far the S12s are certainly my favorite of the bunch and I have tried most of them. I got the Timeless, Hook-X, and S12s all within a few days of each other and the S12s were my pick from those. Since then I have had the OG P1s, the P1 Max, the Diokos, PR1 Pros, Muse HifiPower, the NiceHCK F1, the OG Wu Zetian and Iām sure a couple others in there that Iām forgetting and of those I only kept the OG P1s because theyāre just totally unique from the rest of the planar offerings and can do some really special stuff with certain songs. After modding, the S12s really become a different beast altogether.
Through all that I didnāt mention planar tribrids for obvious reasons, but I also let out the best planar I have tried by a healthy margin: the Campfire Audio Supermoons. Theyāre really awesome, but also WAY more expensive than the others so I tend to keep them out of that discussion.
I have the HeyDays coming my way soon and Iām definitely interested to see what theyāre all about. The graphs I have seen and comments/reviews I have read seem to indicate that they may be a nice balanced planar IEM that will compliment the dynamic v shaped S12s quite well. The HeyDays also seem to fix some of the issues that I had with the OG Wus so they could really turn out to be a nice addition to my collection if they turn out to be something along the lines of what I have imagined. Weāll see soon enough anyways!
Yes. Maybe the comparison with IE600 is not correct, but they have similar tuning. Otherwise, as an endgame planar, I guess they are Campfire Audio Supermoons. I havenāt listened to them because they are expensive and shipping here comes with fees and taxes. I guess itās a beast for metal.
Someone already has a video impressions on the Blessing 3 up on youtube. I guess weāll be seeing more in the next few days.
Iāve always been curious to know how the Trifecta do with metal music? Is there good performance at this very high price with these 3DDs? I have read some negative comments about them.
I have only heard them on one occasion for about 15 minutes and Iāll just say that they werenāt my cup of tea. That said, there are some folks who really like them and you might get a better answer out of someone who owns a pair or has listened for longer. IIRC, @hit_the_right_note has a pair of Trifectas and really digs them so maybe he can tell you more about their strengths and weaknesses. I didnāt get the time to try a bunch of music to try to find their wheelhouse. In the time I did listen it was mostly to some prog/neo-prog I happened to have in the queue on my DAP at the time and they sounded pretty oddly balanced with some areas of the spectrum seemingly over emphasize and others oddly recessed. I definitely wouldnāt hang my hat on that being a complete or even necessarily a valid impression though since weāre talking about a short session with no tip rolling or any of the other things Iād normally do to really evaluate an IEM so take it with a grain of salt.
I witness the same thing on my EST50! After having burned them in (Tony Akros recommendation) I feel the sound is super smooth and balanced. Looking at the graph, I donāt understand how THAT is what Iām hearing when I compare them to other sets with higher graphed treble regions. Maybe it is hocus pocus, maybe I really enjoy the sound of ESTs, but I think they strike a very balanced, yet fun and musical sound.
On the same topic of the EST50, I also think burn in made the bass come down a bit. Still a hefty boy when needed, but something like my Xenns Top suddenly sound more extreme. Maybe itās due to Xenns larger shelf in the midbass? Out of curiosity @MMag05, how is the UP compared to the EST50 in terms of size? Are they in fact even larger? Also thank you for the graphs!
Itās not getting boring
G-Audio āClaridenā and āNairā
So far i absolutely love the build quality
Swiss precision
Pretty sure EVO wouldnāt be my thing, would like to hear KL not sure about the others but the Swiss make dope watches so
What is this?!
DonĀ“t know man, I only know that i perceive EVO way different than it graphs. Especially with a neutral/linear source and a silver cableā¦thatĀ“s the first IEM for me where i can CLEARLY tell a difference with cables/sources
what ist what mister?
Trust me that boost was as shocking to me
But I just do not perceive it as thatā¦
The Grand Maestro is really interesting, hope there will be a demo tour aswell
