Gotcha…same here with my Z1R, folks say that 2-3k dip fucks the mids but I really don’t find that even coming from someone who listens to a lot of female centric music. Oh and the bass on Z1R is pretty perfect for me for all my listening requirements…yes OG Vega has more sub but overall it’s not got the same quality as the Sony’s…
A quick PS…Hey Chris @hawaiibadboy how come your preferred target is way different when it comes to the bass response than the Maestro SE graphs?..are you gonna change the target if not what does your target exactly represent…
I’ve been wondering if Moondrop has made any attempt to fix the obvious timbre issues from the B2 & B2D with the B3 so I’ll definitely be looking forward to reading what you think of these. Good friend you have sending you a pair to make sure you get an early listen.
I had read about this company some time ago, but had forgotten about them. Now I found their site and I’m getting literate. They have an interesting IEM, I will look into them!
Which one is interesting for you?
Clariden left my ears pretty fast… Something was off and I can not even describe…It felt lifeless somehow but it had decent Bass.
Nair grabbed my attention and made me want to listen more.
Tonally it is very accurate and vocals are a pleasure on them.
But to be an Allrounder for me I would need xbass quite often.
Clariden Bass + Nair mids and Treble would be nice
I found the stage pretty average if not small and for that price I would want more. (Yes, I am looking at you Szalayi)
Sorry for side-tracking the current topic, but do you guys reckon 770 usd for a pristine mest mk2 is worth it? This is with shipping which costs 70-100 usd to Norway. Bonkers, I know…
I’m looking to round off my collection with a set with clean imaging and soundstage. As wide and juicy as possible, without sounding too clinical. Think it will fill my needs? Open to alternatives as well, of course.
It appears to be a good price according to recent sales noted on HiFiShark. I enjoy my Mest Mk2 quite a lot. The soundstage doesn’t appear big for me though. Then again, I’ve been listening to full headphones a lot recently.
I would say yes. I’ve seen them go for around $700 on the lowest end and anything above I’d say $850 is kind of high considering what the 2nd hand market has to say. It’s insane to me that the MEXT trends higher on the second hand market… go for it, brother! I’ve heard the MEST MKII is a super fun set with incredible imaging.
I think that’s quite a good price, especially once you factor in the $70 to $100 for shipping. Definitely worth picking them up if they’re what you’re looking for.
I follow what guys said. Also especially since the Mest price in Europe on 2nd hand market oscillates around 850-900€ so even if you don’t like it you won’t loose anything or not much on resell
I sourced my OG from US to Europe after long (not so long lol) wandering in 100-300$ range as well and never regretted that decision
And it’s not a small IEM either, so if your looking for something to comfortably lay down with, maybe look elsewhere. However, I’ve tried JVC SpiralDot, AZLA Crystal TWS(don’t know what happened to my non-tws version, but please hear me out), Symbio W, and SpinFit CP-100.
Symbio and SpinFits aren’t the most comfortable, and SpinFits make them stick out the farthest by far.
The Crystal sits the furthest in, though the nozzle is almost at the end of the tip. All Large size
Please feel free to feel how you will. I’m sitting listening on Fiio M5 using the stock cable, volume set at 40, listening to The Answer - Laco from the 86 OST (16Bit 44K FLAC), EQ off
SpiralDots:
Good seal, I can shake my head like a dog and they stay in really well.
Increase to bass, that may be introducing some slight distribution
Very comfortable, can barely feel them
Crystal:
Sticks out the least, almost flush with the part of my ear that sticks out the most
very close second in comfort, can tell they’re there a bit more
good seal, though felt like they slipped the slightest with the shake
narrower sound stage
mildly decreased base, mid bass retained most of it’s punch
vocals a bit more clear, felt like frequencies were a bit more balanced
SpinFit:
sticks out the most by far
not uncomfortable, but you can definitely feel it’s there
passes the shake test
almost seems quieter
Bass really cut back, mostly in sub region, keeping some punch, but it’s not as prominent
a bit brighter, but the sound doesn’t feel as cohesive
trickiest to get on
Symbio:
maybe sealed a bit too well, or I need to look into a size down
increase in bass, though not in a pleasant way, throwing things out of balance in the opposite direction, causing the highs to be a bit drowned
probably would recommend the least from this experience.
Energetic meaning what? Some people consider boosted bass and/or treble tunings to be energetic while for others an energitc IEM would have a driver(s) with fast transients, well defined notes, and a high degree of articulation. I’m sure there are even more ideas of what is and is not energetic so if you could explain what you mean a bit it would be helpful…for me anyways. I can be a bit slow on the uptake.
