IEM discussion thread (Part 1)

That makes sense, sometimes with certain music, the typical audiophile idealism isnā€™t what is needed for an enjoyable replay, ya know? Even tho the Senns have lovely treble energy and so much detail retrieval and overall res, things like Led Zeppelin sound like garbage without a boosted lower mid range - especially the newer remasters with the lack dynamic range and seemingly mid bass presence.

Damn computers, messing everything up

who are you kidding, betcha @nymz already has a set incoming and just forgot

One of the reasons I went with the Twilights was more versatility compared to the Senns - I have a lot of classic rock and new metal genres in my library. Was a bit worried how they would replay stuff like Carcass, Entombed, Jinjer, Death Angel, Ithaca but thereā€™s no problem here. Will need to give them a good run through my library.

LOL honestly, youā€™re probably right

That makes sense to me, the twilights do seem a bit more versatile in its tuning for sure - I bet something from ā€˜Men I Trustā€™ would sound absolutely divine on them.

I wish that was the case. But Iā€™ll consider it. Missed the refurbished ie600 on eu sen website for a hair, so im itching. But I need to do a detour first.

Also, need to sell something lol

Not heard them, will check them out :+1:

Only Death Angel good on Senns. Carcassā€“> newer albums. Entombedā€“> very bad
But modern new bands with ultra-good mastering and fantastic dynamics are absolutely amazing to Senns. maybe the best dynamic repeats, as well as drum and bass, jungle, psy trance, etc., which I love.

Please do - I donā€™t think itā€™ll be your thing, but theyā€™re known for having silky smooth, warm production and mastering. I bet it would sound amazing on those there twilights. Maybe something more in your wheel house would be a band called ā€˜Just Mustardā€™ - not very metal at all, but maybe youā€™d dig em!

thanks man, always looking for new discoveries (really wish the Qobuz algo was more up to snuff)

Thatā€™s the main reason I canā€™t use Qobuz tbh - thereā€™s no way to create a radio based on an artist or a song or even an album. I have found that the sound quality is ever so slightly better to, so it is annoying. Iā€™d happily drop Apple Music for Qobuz if they just added some form of radio. But let me know what you think of the two recs, man. I hope you can enjoy them

The price is killer. Against the backdrop of the global crisis, everyone is raising prices, hmmā€¦
But they look very good with a nice cable.
