IEM discussion thread (Part 1)

Tutorial time For anyone else who is interested in helping @VIVIDICI_111 out:

Next time you go into linsoul, at the end of the URL, add the following:
“?sca_ref=3431839.SsadRUmJUJ” at the end of the link. So in this case the correct, full link should be:

And should look like this:
h ttps://www.linsoul.com/?sca_ref=3431839.SsadRUmJUJ

Minus the space (couldn’t figure out how to remove the hyperlink)

Hope this clears any potential confusion for peeps

I find Vulkan best with the stock M tips personally.

Can you explain to me how to create a link with referral? I have an account on linsoul but I don’t see how to create/get the referral link for my account. I have to ask for it to the linsoul team?

Yooo you don’t need to do that man

I appreciate the support big time though

@Tourbillon I believe they send you one. I didn’t ask for one at least.

Random question on Saturday night…does anyone have any recommendations for some lesser known / unique IEMs that a North American want to try at e-earphones (Japan) that won’t be available back home?

Trying to compile a list for a visit sometime in the near future.

Thanks in advance!

Man I wish I had my Serattus here to A/B (:crossed_fingers: their repair turnaround will be :dash:) but IIRC I found Serattus to have a pretty good sub bass for a bud which I miss, with the Sunni’s going from memory I think have more detail overall but in a kinda effortless way which could be put down to their less V shape :man_shrugging: (any graphs) so Sunni’s are real easy to enjoy, great timbre, good soundstage, great mid’s etc…but lack a bit of sub bass and treble extension, but most of my sets excel in those departments anyway lol…worth the price? I guess that ones always gonna be personal…on a side note I should be picking up a set of Riku’s AR Gen3’s early next week so I’ll have another pair of buds to keep the Sunni’s company

Lately I have been using my EA500 and went back to my EST50 for some bass heavy electronic music, and I was sort of let down. I started questioning if there was something wrong with my EST50s, cause the bass in the EA500s just seemed waay better and more rumbly than what I considered was my most bassy set.

Couldn’t wrap my head around it… Tried again a few days later, same thing. Suddenly I remembered I had covered the vent on the EA500 with a badaid, and figured I’d try to remove it. Lo and behold, the bass made much more sense now, and the EST50 was no longer a munchkin compared.

I very well might be wrong (please correct me if I am), but I imagine it must be something to do with the combination of metal shell and the resonance not exiting through the vent, creating a reverberation and thus making the bass sound more emphasized. It sounds very special to my ears, but I’m unsure whether it’s good for the lifespan of the driver :grimacing:

Doubt it can break the driver, and since it’s on the cheaper side its nothing to be way to afraid of .

Read your post and was, you must be kidding me. Bass on est50 rumbles way more. But that tape explains it :+1:

Have a full comparison about Aurora and EST50 in next review, est50 lacks refinement in mids and treble. EST50 can be grainy or sibilant in the mid and low treble parts.
Aurora bass slams harder and have more detail, the EST50 has some great louder rumble thats fun on the slow side. Both Aurora and EA500 is more on the tight fast side, also when taped on EA500.

Got the tuning kit from Simgot the other week, have not had time to okay around with it yet. There is foam for the bass port, and different filters.

Hope to add bass over stock, and to relaxed some of the upper mids. Hope one of the filters can help with it.

You are correct, EA500 bass is special! I heard most of the popular IEMs under $300 and think EA500 bass is the best! Amount of control, texture, rumble, punchy impact all are excellent! I retuned black nozzles to drop pinna gain by 2.5db and tame the treble and EA500 is such pleasure to listen to. Reggae, dub and any bass instruments presented so good, natural. The EA500 bass outperforms Kato, Studio4 and OG SA6 and many others IEMs in my opinion.

The amount of detail retrieval is on par with Studio4 for me. The note weight is another strength of EA500. It makes Adele voice sounds amazingly clean, transparent, but lush and full. On Studio4 her voice sounds great, but misses some of the weight EA500 has in upper mids.

EA500 with less pinna, is very enjoyable, and I pick it up over more expensive sets when I want to relax, without missing the details of the sound. It just lacks sound stage depth. That’s where Studio4 shows it’s pedigree, having better stage depth, height and better imaging.

It truly is special to me. Currently my top picks are the EA500, and the next is the SR8 which is a looong way away in terms of price. SR8 has it’s special qualities in the immense soundstage and details, but in terms of value:

i watch your reviews( watched every single one of them till now) and they are actually fun, actually love the edits and matching clips/pics with the commentary :100:. but there is one thing thats weird to me . you paid 1600$ for a defected iem that graphs like this yet you put it at s tier? is that because “everybody” praised this set into oblivion, so you ignored the wasted money, this atrocious graph, and lack of elysians responsibility to fix this garbage insult to his dear customers like you ,to be willing to fix your problem for free but they didn’t and you are still putting this iem at top of your list? its literally like the the pygmalion effect on people, a psychological phenomenon in which high expectations lead to improved performance in a given area and low expectations lead to worse. you think person “a” will be better at drawing or any skill because he is good looking, rich, has a super car etc… and you think person “b” will suck at anything and is low iq because hes either ugly, fat, poor etc. so you behave different towards them and your “believes” and “actions” towards them will make person “a” a better performer on any subject compared to the person “b” in the long run. not the exact same situation here but you get what i say
its like you pre assumed this iem (diva) will sound well (price bias, positive reviewers bias, brand bias, exclusivity bias etc…) and shaped the results(ranking) based off the reality that you “created” in your head, but not the reality thats actually happened in real life( an unbalanced channel matching of a mess).

this thing is 1600$ btw, 1600$ for a minimum phase device and got this channel matching for 2 different sets
it makes me skeptical tbh, are you going with the mindset that “everybody said its good then its good” or you ae actually confident in your listening abilities to state the reality and dare to be the real reviewer even if the community hates you for being like that? and im not only talking only about you but talking about any person with different opinion in this hobby.

I felt like I explained myself pretty clearly in the video with all the pros and cons, but TLDR the Diva really is THAT good for vocals. It still sounded the best at mid volume a/b with RSV and others, and top 5 for higher volumes, so nothing’s gonna change my opinion on that front regardless of pricing/hype/blah blah blah and what not. Ranking wise I’m taking into account it without the channel imbalance since I’m assuming most people buying aren’t going to run into what I did (I hope), so I guess you could say it’s an estimation. However, even with the imbalance it’s still like S-, so, ya, but thanks for pointing that out - I’ll put a disclaimer beside it until/if I ever get another one.

No. LOL. Don’t care about the hype, pricing, pygmalion blah blah, I can always just resell it, and I have (with proper disclaimer of the imbalance of course). I don’t know why you’re assuming, but any reviewer worth their salt will not let price, reviews, and brand affect their overall listening decision - if you suspect they have, then don’t listen to them.

Again, no. If I really did go with the flow then I wouldn’t have made a Diva roast session lol. I could’ve just waited to get it fixed and then post a review. If you ever get the chance, you should give it a demo before throwing out further assumptions as the vocals are top tier - natural, airy, extended, resolving. The low-end was affected like I mentioned, but the vocals/rest were fine. Diva is an actual great set, but too bad for its QC.

Not to offend, but I do not care if you, or anyone is “skeptical” of my opinions as I’m at peace with myself knowing I’ve done nothing wrong and giving my honest opinion in each review. If you don’t trust me, cool, move on. But if a set is good then it’s good, if it’s not then it’s not. It’s not that deep. This is just for personal enjoyment so I don’t have any other incentive other than “does this sound good with my library and what I like”.

Anyhow, thanks for bringing this up and watching my videos man. I appreciate it, and have a great rest of your week~

so s tier means "it has unlistenable channel imbalance and has a garbage qc as a 500$+ set ", got it.
now i get why timmy put the sa6 mk2 on his s tier, but he gets a cut from hifigo from every sale and video and his case is different from you anyways. you actually paid for that thing and feel sorry for you.

OK LOL :joy: You might feel bad, but I’m gucci with the cash flow, but thanks for taking your time to worry about me :+1:

I’m pretty sure I put a BIG disclaimer throughout the entire video and the ranking, but hey, if you just wanna argue can’t help you there. Will be blocking to save myself from losing further brain cells talking to you.

Bye~ Have a nice day

All these people have different opinions, values and standards. I’m getting the vibe that you don’t really see that it’s OK to have differing opinions on a subject which is clearly very subjective.

I get the feeling you don’t really want to watch/read any reviews. So… Why do it?

Block, ignore, and move on. Not worth the time and effort with these types, trust bro. Maybe the man’s mad he didn’t win the giveaway
