IEM discussion thread (Part 2)

I am using the JDS OL switch

Very overpriced though and doesnt have many connections. Nowadays I would likely just buy something like this.

Is it really the H3? That one is really ancient and is from 2013 and is quite a few generations older than your Z1R

IER lineup 2018
XBA-N lineup 2016
XBA-A lineup 2014
XBA-H lineup 2013

I havent really seen many talk about the H lineup at all so I probably would not spend more than 50 usd for it tbh…especially when I have seen the A3 being sold for like 150 usd and i myself bought the A3 for around 200 usd.

Yep, looks like high output impedance.

Same with those Zishan Daps, really cheap sources and powerful but really terrible OI, so yeah I would say it is true to a degree that power can be the cause of colored output…at least in the budget area.

Gonna put that ali switch on my to buy list. :+1:

Buy it next week during the sale and pick up the Fiio JA11 while you are at it, this way you can easily setup a PEQ preset on the JA11 and when you need it, simply switch to the JA11 input.

Welcome to the 11.11 madness🤣 Definitely worth keeping an eye on HiFiGo if they can help dodge that 25% VAT—makes a big difference. I’d say start by listing out your top picks across Ali, HiFiGo, and Linsoul, then watch for flash sales or coupons at each. Ali can be great for big discounts, but sometimes it’s worth paying a little extra on HiFiGo or Linsoul for quicker shipping or VAT savings.

As was requested by another user, since I have almost all of the Symphonium Gems in hand (or in my glove?), here is a visual side-by-side for size comparison:

I did my best to kinda angle them so that they all appear “head-on” to the camera. As far as I can tell, Titan, Europa and Crimson are identical shells with Europa having the extended nozzle w/lip. STORM is a thick boi and has more of an “upswept” nozzle that is also a tad thicker but the design language is otherwise the same. They all sound great, of course.

Thank you for the comparison brother. You’re probably the only guy who can do that for us :joy:

Also the STORM is a chonker wow big boy

I haven’t tried any of these IEMs. But only by FR and intuition for me it would be like this:

2 and 4 (Europa and Crimson) are FAR closer than most would suspect, with Crimson being a little more spicy and Europa being more mid-focused. Titan I would say is more of an L-shape but still capable for non-basshead genres while STORM is STORM lol. Any of them are worth trying if you do get the opportunity one day!

Subtonic needs to make more Storms or Storm 2.0, or something. I got to demo it, and it’s pretty damn legendary.

Agreed and agreed - It’s so wild that the small difference between the Crimson and Europa’s tuning makes a big difference to my ears. It also might be the longer nozzle causing a difference as well but I’m not 100% sure on that.

The Standard Edition should be available (for order, anyway) before the end of the year but the price increase they had to make for the component cost is painful (not that it was cheap to start, but it’s going to up to ~Trailli Tier). I do wish more people could hear it though, or that another company could pull off the sound at a more “people can actually have this” price. FWIW, I think the Europa (and to an extent with the different FR, Crimson) can get people most of the way there for a more realistic price.

@domq422 That for sure plays a part (just like the Helios SE had to be retuned since the nozzle wasn’t a mile long like the OG). I will say that I end up preferring completely different tips on Europa and Crimson.

Yeah, it’s tough to go 5k for so many people. Excited to hear what they do next for sure.

To me these are interesting sets: Vivace, Cinno, MagicOne, EM6L, Sgor Luna (similar tuning as Timeless) and maybe the upcoming Zero Blue 2
