The only downside (huge ones where each of them is a dealbreaker for some) is that you NEED PEQ to tune it better (minimum would be to tame the 2k and 5,5k peaks), that it has ZERO isolation just a few db better than earbuds and that it sticks out like an usb stick in your ears so it doesnt really work well outdoors.
If you can ever get ya slack ass over to a London CanJam then youāre more than welcome to try/borrow my set
So youāre telling me the only caveat isā¦
Jokes aside still curious about these ones. The fit really doesnāt look fun to me though.
It is the ONLY set where they recommend it for pretty much all pro work.
(I own 1/3rd of the products there lol.)
Funny since i definitely would not use it anywhere near a stage due to the lack of isolation.
The fit/comfort is actually fine for me. Problem is that it looks nerdy af so I aint going out with them (lack of isolation also doesnt help) and that the shape of it does mean it would work terrible for using it on a bike.
Ok tried it with poweramp eq. and i was correct, too bright for me and that upper-treble boost is too much where i even prefer stock.
Question
In this image does these have side rotation like left and right (bottom circle) or at the connector
That gold/red area is a lock mechanism for the cable, it locks it in place and does not rotate.
That other area does not rotate, thats the vent that you can see.
so it stay in like kinda straight line | or is it somewhat angled?
Yeah kinda sticks out like that.
thats a super basshead target, it got 18 db bass boost over neutral bass, and 21 db difference from subbass to eargain region whereas most reference speakers got 3 db difference in that area in most rooms. if you found it bright then i can only assume the dd canāt take upper frequency eq well like every single dd out there.
Super basshead? absolutely notā¦
Here is one.
As I told you many times, I cannot handle much upper-mids/treble. Im a low volume listener and need my bass boost to compensate for the equal loudness curve.
both basshead to be totally honest, what i posted is a refined one and this one looks a bit special
i know, this is why the target i posted got 6 db boost from 200hz to 3k if i donāt compensate it to df. thats on the lowest sides of the things, and the treble just falls off gradually.
i also rarely go above 65-70 dbs, i only felt the need to reduce the upper frequencies as i go higher in volume. but equal loudness curve suggest you should boost both ends and not only bass like apple does.
Yes it does but then comes my own sensitivity.
Hello everyone,
I would like to briefly share with you my impressions of Thieaudio Prestige LTD and V16 Divinity.
Visually, both headphones are impressive and there is nothing to complain about in terms of build quality.
The nozzle on the V16 is a bit thicker and could cause problems for some, but not a problem for me, I even got a firmer fit with my Tri Clarion tips.
And while weāre on the subject of tips, the Tri Clarion are a perfect match in terms of sound because their very wide opening means they donāt produce any additional midbass, but more on that later.
The cables of the units I got are identical, but I think I saw a different stock cable on the V16 once - maybe it was replaced later!?
I really like the cables both visually and haptically and a changeable termination is always a plus.
I started with the Prestige LTD and the first impression was very good, but after listening for a while I started to complain. (on a relatively high level)
The first positive thing I noticed was the mids. The upper mids in particular have a bit more bite compared to my Cadenza 12, which gives female voices a bit more emotion and high hats sound a bit sharper, which I really liked.
The first ānegativeā thing I noticed was the trebleā¦ something isnāt quite right for me and the tuning sounds a bit unnatural, as if there is a gap between the lower and upper treble.
Maybe its just a subpar implementation of the ESTs and there is a coherency issue between the BAĀ“s (lower treble?) and the ESTs (upper treble?)
Depending on the song, it doesnāt sound bad at all, but sometimes itās just a bit unnatural for my taste.
Considering that they have ESTs built in, which everyone always praises to the skies, Iām rather disappointed with the high frequencyā¦ the Letshuoer Mystic 8, Cadenza 12 and V16 do a better job with their BAs.
The bass on the Prestige could do with a bit more control in my opinion, it sounds loose and in this area too it falls short compared to the V16 with its BA bass.
IMHO BA bass and BA treble CAN be better than DD bass and EST treble.
The sub-bass on the Cadenza 12 is lower in volume but still has more visceral impact which was an interesting observation.
I find the stage representation to be wide and sufficiently deep but in a direct comparison I found the V16 to be wider and deeper.
The Cadenza 12 is also a bit deeper, but not widerā¦but that is always difficult to determine with absolute certainty.
The V16 actually does everything better, the bass is faster and not as loose, the mids are even clearer and the treble sounds more naturalā¦ all that in a wider and deeper stage as already mentioned.
The midbass on the V16 can, however, sound a bit too bloated here and there, especially when a contrabass is involved (Lake Street Dive- Mistakes, Lake Street Dive - I want you back) or with some bass-heavy music (Captain Hook - Future Fuckers)
Also with technical death metal (Archspire - Involuntary DoppelgƤnger) the bloated midbass leads to less precision and the technical death metal then no longer sounds quite as technical
I have to say that this is not enough to detract from the joy of listeningā¦ we are in the area of āānitpicking and since I am a fan of EQ anyway, that would not be a problem for me.
And again on the driver topic, I canāt tell from the V16 that there is a BA instead of a dynamic driver working.
I would probably EQ V16 aswell in the upper treble, it does sounds very natural, but with Fleetwood Mac - Dreams 2021 Remaster IĀ“d like it a little more sparkly.
In comparison, I would say that the C12 is more resolving in the treble, whether thatās due to the tuning or the drivers, I canāt say.
On the other hand, the V16 sounds clearer and with more bite in the mids, especially in the upper ones but that also leads to less crankabilityā¦on very high volumes some female vocals are borderlining on being shouty as noticed in the beginning of Derina Harvey Band - Islanderā¦but as soon as the instruments start youĀ“d lower the volume anyway.
When it comes to the stage, I also think that it is wider and perhaps deeper than the C12ā¦ the 4 additional drivers per side must be good for something
The bottom line is that the V16 is an earphone for the island and gets a clear recommendation from me.
Iām a bit more reserved about the Prestige LTDā¦it gets a lot of praise everywhere and itās damn good, but IĀ“m hesitant giving it a full recommendation.
Thanks for the write-up!
Iāve encountered ESTs a few times, in MEST II for instance, but Iāve only found them to be implemented well once - Punch.
Iād be curious to hear your thoughts on Valhalla in comparison to C12, if you get the chance.
YouĀ“re welcome!
Best EST implementation for me so far was probably Grand Maestro.
I also very much enjoyed Penon ImpactĀ“s treble but it was maybe a bit too safely tuned.
Kinda Lava treble quality is also very good, just a bit too low in volume.
IĀ“m also very interested in the Valhalla but a demo unit is not in sight unfortunately
Pretty sure @Leonarfd will have a comparisson with C12 in his review of Valhalla
GM is on my list. Have you got a link to your impressions?
Well, technical death metal doesnāt require 10,000 drivers and a price tag of $1,000+. For example, my favorite IEM that plays almost perfect death metal costs $79 and is from 2019 and only has 2 drivers. I havenāt said it here before. Well, thatās lifeā¦
I just shared some very short impressions and was not super enthusiastic about it.
DonĀ“t get me wrong itĀ“s a great set but i expected more to be honest.
But still the ESTs do shine on these
