IEM discussion thread (Part 1)

Intoit reviews on YouTube, folks in the comments were telling me how good they are and that I should get them since they are so cheap. It supposedly has a Blon driver of some type in it…the tuner Larry Fulton claims. Someone opened a Blon 01 and ks1, and theirs pics. But the two of them are different.

Mangird Tea rated a C

I ignored that mediocre rating… and I’m glad I did. LOL

The Tripowin TC-01 is $49 I believe. It fits very flat/flush to the ear, but I don’t think i’s an isolation monster by any means. Sound quality is very good, similar to Blon, and it has plenty of sub-bass. Cable is pretty good, rolls up nice and doesn’t tangle, and has comfortable ear guides.

Oh and it has a single dynamic driver.

Yeah, driver flex wont happen to everyone but sometimes the iem itself can be badly designed so it happens to a lot of people. (like the Ibasso IT00.)

I really think driver flex is a combination of all or one of the following…

  • Your ear canal shape
  • IEM shell shape
  • Tips used
  • Size of vent hole

I would however say if the IEM design is solid then driver flex means one way of another you have a good seal…as long as the shell stays in place.

yup, those are the factors.

And yeah, getting driver flex is another way to confirm that you get a good seal. In fact, driver flex just means that you seal so well that the air cant escape so they go into the iem itself and cause trouble lol.

This is where good iem design would allow the vent to fully alleviate the pressure/air and therefore wont cause any flexes.

I think a well fitting IEM will exert more Pressure/Air movement on the DD when being fitted than play back does…hence no driver flex when listening…having a larger vent hole may well relieve driver flex when fitting but my comprise playback quality.

A larger vent definitely helps with pressure and driver flex alleviation. But they might also improve soundstage, like the EX800ST/1000.

Oh this’s getting so "Headphoney " LMAO

lol, for me, having a big vent is a plus because I love huge soundstages and the con with a big vent (isolation) isnt something I need.

Ok back on topic…my Z1R’s have a great fit, my best fitting IEM’s…slam like MoFo’s and absolutely no driver flex when fitting…I also like my IT00’s and they flex like little bitches when fitting…so who knows :man_shrugging:

Damn, the z1r looks like one of the worst fitting iem to me. Guess you hit the jackpot.

My sonic (cheap?) diamond in the dust and an absolute endgame for me…I just need to up my source game, selling and saving fast lol.

My bad fit history…Blon 03’s fit sucked big time for me, did an OK good job sound wise for the little :moneybag: but seemed to try too hard to be dope and bad fit for me = fail.
P1’s fucking love 'em driven by my iFi Micro a banging set once you can get them fitted :grimacing: and :boom::muscle:…they have always entertained and intrigued me form my first listen :gem:

@Rikudou_Goku what source do you use to evaluate your sets, I guess like Chris you have a fav and stick to it?

I use the Ibasso DX160. But since I gotten the Schiit Asgard 3, I find myself using it more than the DX160. I still use the DX160 when I review stuff for consistency´s sake.

Personally I wouldnt spend that much on a portable source. I rather put it on a desktop setup, cheaper and better quality from that.

You arent going to be able to listen to the iem at its fullest potential if you are using it outside anyway with all the distractions.
