So did anybody confirm if the 6xx button is just a pretty 3d mode button in disguise?
Julie from iFi says itās a passive EQ tuned just for the FR of the HD6xx.
Yes but it might no longer be exclusive
Yes but with better quality components used, so basically beefed up
From what I know yes
Yes that sounds about right
hereās a direct quote from Julie about the EQ between Tru Bass and 6xx:
Yes I can confirm the two have different EQ. The ZEN CAN Signature 6XX is a specialist amp where the EQ has been designed to match the Sennheiser 6XX headphones (amongst a couple others Iāll share the chart in case you missed it). The standard ZEN CAN is a more generalist headphone amp which uses an aggregate curve based on measurements and our knowledge of the most common open backed headphones. Hope that helps!
And it will be available to order again on Drop soon I do believe! Watch this space
I really want these nowā¦but not at $250 USDā¦after exchange, thatās like $750 CAD
Odd, but I guess makes sense. After trying the ican for a few hours got me pretty curious on this amp and the cheaper one on there site.
$500 together not including the extra balanced cablingsā¦ Quite a lot honestly. Just not sure if its actually worth that as thats pretty steep all considering
Just consider the Zen Can, not sure if youād really miss anything by getting that over the Drop Signature version. It does provide more resolution, power, control over using just the amp out of the Zen Dac. I have been able to drive all of my headphones satisfactorily with the āregularā Zen Can.
indeed. I could just get the CAN Signature 6xx and use the DAC pass through from my current Zen. Iād just need to grab a $40 4.4mm Pentacon to 4.4mm Pentacon cable from Hart.
Iāll probably just wait for them to show up used.
Iām not sure if the drop was a flop as only 95 units or something were orderedā¦but Julie says another drop is imminent.
Wasnāt there just like no actual customer reviews or trials when this first got announced? was just like a rush order. I recall zeos having to blast out a review as fast as possible and didnāt really even get around to the dac properly.
Guess a non tested unit wonāt meet good sales right out the gate. Maybe they will have better sales with a second run
Drop took money for a November shipment. Iām sure if they are had some units readily available it would sell more. (Plus the Zen Can released like 2-3 weeks later, so I wouldnāt get the Signature version)
well, I want the HD6 optimization. itās been favorably reviewed and the HD6 headphones suit my sound preferences as well.
I hope they have a better price than the first run. though that will really tick off the first gen buyers.
Guess I will just keep an eye on itā¦ I want some actual reviews on these units before I go grabbing them. Like some real comparisons and sound signature claims. A shiny button and some blue tinting for some special equalization and what not isnāt worth $250 to me lol. The Dac especially since itās just a Dac I find hard to wager worth $250 considering you have the zen over there to pair it with as well as others like E30 for cheaper and the modius.
Thanks for this. I needed to know what Iām missing out on since I have a HD650.
Edit: Just finished the video. I think Iām happy with the choice I made (non-Signature stack).
hmmā¦so the non-6xx CAN is the one to get, unless you like a bright signature.
heās got waaay too many word whiskersā¦to the point they can be so long they detract from the review.
Maybe? Minimal overlap I have with him I donāt know that I agree with him that much. I think heās a good guy who does thoughtful reviews and quality work, I just donāt really agree with him. But if youāre treble sensitive then yeah, you should keep this in mind. He probably does have a point about the Drop versions being overpriced though.
What is it you donāt agree with?
