Zeos started me digging into this rabbit hole with his pure infectious enthusiasm for every new toy he gets sent to review. His reviews are hilarious and total entertainment. Do I take anything he says seriously hell no but do I want to have the opportunity to listen to just a fraction of what he gets excited about hell yes! That and he still sounds like the Jack Black of audiophilia means I remain a huge fan!

yeah they did. but where the fuck are they at and what have they done for the community? the answer is absolutely nothing.
They made the forum yes, they implemented some half assed recommendation app and then abandoned it, they instated about a half dozen āmodsā that have done fuck all of nothing, patrons (friends?) of Z that never had any real intention of running the board, and in reality Zeos doesnāt give a rats ass about this place beyond his affiliate link farming that is done here to pay his house note and the future prospect of paid advertisment placement through the forum that will also pay his bills.
This is the most poorly ran forum ive been apart of by far, there was never even any thought put into a basic guideline for the users. The rules are literally the generic rule set for the discourse platform and itās a miracle this place stays civil as it is, a big part due to the three mods that we do have that were community chosen might i add. If the community hadnāt had a huge outcry to make M0N a mod back then I doubt this place would be anywhere near the level of civility it is today. and thatās not saying much because honestly the board is a mess with no organization.
DMS i donāt even think has much to do with the forum anymore and likely was never really invested to begin with, although he actually has some of my respect while Z has none. no fucks given.
Also Iām looking foward to the next zeos thread that will pop up in the next year, like we dont have enough of them ffs

I like the fact that they arenāt here. I wouldnt like a forum that guides me to what they think I should have my attention on. Iād rely on the mass hype trains and fellow forum members for that lol.
Are there any improvements that would be appreciated for the forum? I just want more equipment impressions and reviews and comparisons in general with pairings of headphones with amp/dacs but thats just what generally happens I think.
Iām glad this place is civil compared to the other forums.
Iād assume it would be best for Z and DMS mental health to probably not be here tbh. Its fun to see them pop up like youtube celebrity influencers on a forum once a blue moon I guess (lol)

I think he has given the audio scene a whole new direction that people have always been looking for.
Starting with audio products, all the way to the forum.
We have him to thank for the fact that a community has emerged that has remained objective.
When I go to other circles like forums, I only find flowery words or measurements that donāt say anything and are completely overwhelming for every beginner.
His commitment and approach is a different one, describing the products, which no one else does for the most part, and giving his opinion.
That was certainly the partial success of the channel.
As far as certain statements are concerned, such as that there are hardly any differences between the Dacs, that is his opinion, which is also okay.
I have heard this from testers many times.
For me there are still differences between 200$/ā¬ and 1000$/ā¬.
However, if you consider that you make new videos and introduce products every day, you will probably come to this conclusion at some point.
It would probably be the same for us.
Sure, at the moment the videos are suffering a bit in terms of content, but thatās probably for other reasons that are personal.
And you should respect that and not see the negative.
It has given the audio scene a completely different insight up to now, also on the part of the manufacturers who have also learned from this to improve their product again.
In the end, itās up to everyone whether they buy it or not.
I watch his videos purely out of interest, I have bought a few, but it was not my personal demand.
Which is not bad.
Nevertheless, the influence had worked on me when I was new and wanted to have a good start for my money.
The Fostex Hp A3 and Th xx were my first decent devices.
Which I still enjoy today except for the Hp A3.
These are all successes that he can chalk up to his account and shows that not everything is negative.

Of course you can! But dacās are such a minor piece of the experience. And once you get to Holo may levels the law of diminishing returns has been going on for so long itās no longer about āeveryone whoās trained can hear itā. Itās only those with both the natural ability and training who can hear the difference. Youāll hear the difference between a 20 and 200$ dac easily. 200$ to 500$ sure? Anything above that will require you to know exactly what to listen to. And anything past the 2k range people with a regular-joe ear wonāt hear no matter how hard you try.

Iām not really sure if I agree. The more high end you go up the bigger the differences they are. Iād in fact say the difference between 20USD DAC (apple dongle) and 200USD DAC (Schiit Modius) is smaller than, say, between Schiit Modius and Yggy/Gumby/Bifrost 2.

How is this about Schiit fan boy? If you like, put any other well regarded DAC at the 20/200/500/1000/2000 point. Disagreement is welcome, name calling isnāt. And if you cannot handle a disagreement and can only resort to name calling, yes, you should be out and shouldnāt be on forums at all.

This is what makes his opinion on dacs so baffling, since this has also been my experience. I canāt believe he actually canāt hear a difference, because just about anyone should hear the difference, itās just that noticeable. Itās fun to joke about him being deaf, but I feel like his opinion is really just to shore up his base by dashing a product he canāt get $$$$ from. At the same time, it does a disservice to the community by pushing the idea that dacs donāt matter.

I mean if heās in the hobby for less than 6 months and has only heard the sub 500USD DS chip based DACs, sure, I can see why he may not hear a difference. But he isnāt, he has accessed to a lot of gear, and really good gear, and spent enough time to have actively or passively trained his critical listening. Hence I donāt believe he canāt hear a difference.

I was under the impression that he stopped claiming dacs donāt matter like 2 years ago. Heās recommended plenty of relatively higher end ones. Am I mistaken?
Heās said it plenty of times recently from what Iāve seen. Also said he wonāt review dacs over $1500 because he doesnāt hear a difference and there arenāt really features thatād make things worth over that (unless itās lights like the matrix element x he reviewed).

Zeos has always been fun to watch for me personally. I donāt take him too seriously.
The only item Iāve bought at his advice is the Philips SHP 9500 headphones at $99.00 .
They were ,and still are, a great headphone for that money.
I dont like his bouncing Gopro head movements and the over emphatic hand movements as I leave his reviews feeling somewhat sea sickā¦ The new guy Golden Sound makes me feel exactly the same way with all the bouncing Gopro and hand wavingā¦
All these YouTube reviewers are salesmen to some extent and Zeos is no worse than any other. Never buy expensive hifi equipment based on any audio reviewers word. Listen to the equipment yourself before buying. Fortunately I got lucky with the SHP9500 headphones but that was a low ri$k purchaseā¦

Maybe a 2k Yggy is high end for you, but frankly, none of its lineup, properly speaking, is high end.
Likeām, zeos is the truman show of the AV world. Only gripe he mention a move the forum to speakers and HT but ended up doing more heaphones lol.
