It's coming to the end of the year so

what do you think of the Listen’s, epic?

I’m thinking Listen Pro’s…

Sorry, I meant the listen pros. The are a bit lively and resolving in the highs. They just sparkle. Probably the best set of headphones I’ve heard this year. When the bass is there is sold and clean. I know I can’t call them perfect but they sound pretty amazing on an amp.

not perfect eh? what would you say are the obvious ‘flaws’?

I don’t think there is any obvious flaws really. I just think its hard to call any headphone perfect without firing someone up… lol

These are the things that I have purchased so far in this year.

1st: BLON BL-03, a good buy and really did lived up to the hype thanks to some users who kept on insisting me.

2nd: Topping NX3s, a good portable amp for the price, and with this sounds have been improved for me and of course louder.

3rd: Well technically not a purchase but more like a gift I got, the Adidas D Rose 10 Star Wars Edition, yeah it’s shoes but I use them since I do play pickup basketball.

4th: the SpinFit CP145s, and man I just got them today. Comfort, sound isolation and sounds have been improved and technically I got the Comply foam tips as well back then but they are sadly tearing off, so I settled with these and I love it.

I’ve had this in draft for a while.

The Atom. It has been hassle free, powered the majority of my headphones for most of the year. I don’t think I’ll be using it much next year though as I’m planning to shift things around when a some of the new DACs release next year. I’ve been eyeing the SMSL M200, but I’m intrigued by the Soncoz LA-QXD1 and interests me more than any headphone or IEM at the moment.

For headphones, I’m gonna rep my Takstar HF 580s. Don’t regret spending the $168.

Did you mod these? Do you need to be a “bass head” to enjoy these without mods?

I’ve modded them in attempt to sound like Aivas. Not really bass heavy, but I went overboard on modding to gain more soundstage. They have been benched for now, until I feel like harvesting the drivers or the headband for something else.

UPS delivery just arrived, BEST damned gift I have ever received from a friend, and possibly most useful piece of kit that has fallen into my hands all year. Exogal Comet DAC and headphone amplifier. Stupidly Merry Christmas and positively top note to end the year.

Not yet, UPS gal is a gem. I’m staring out the window waiting on the FED-Ex bubba and my ZMF’s…

Focal Elex recently and TH900MK2EG earlier this year. Now that I think about it I’ve bought a lot of things this year but those two take the cake for sure.

never heard of that dac before. and only 200$ how good is it?

Not released yet. It’s big brother the SGD1 was assigned a number that is really high in the ASR world, but I don’t know how they are in real life.

It’s by the guy that designed the Khadas Tone Board and claims to solve the “ESS hump” issue if that matters. It’s on my radar because I’m interested on how it turns out.

For this year, I would have to say… my SMSP SP200 THX amplifier. Second would be my E-mu Teaks.

My top purchases are ones that made me surprised with the value for the money. I would rank them 1. Polk LSiM 703s for $449, 2. Blon BL03 for $29, and 3. Schiit Loki for full price.

I meant I powered them with the Q5s when going portable. But on a desk I’m using the THX 789
