JAY's audio memes (and reviews/ranking too I guess)

After all the large AF nozzles, thank you.

KEFINE DELCI AE REVIEW:

TLDR:
-A smoother EW200 (well, depending on the unit of the EW200) with similar resolution with silver nozzle
-Tech wise it’s around the same as EW200 with the main difference being the bronze nozzle having better clarity and sharper imaging
-EW200 vocals pop more with better clarity, while AE silver nozzle is smoother and airier, less dynamic but also less bright
-Depending on the unit of your EW200, it could be just as smooth or brighter than the silver nozzle, but either way it’s going to less peaky than the Bronze nozzle
-More detail and resolution vs EW200 with the Bronze nozzle but it’s too bright imo, a bit sharp as the extra 2K + uppermids/treble isn’t very smooth

-At $89 it’s kind of a stretch since it doesn’t really compete with the EA500LM, but it’s solid for $69 on alix, at that price I think it’s good if you want a smoother EW200, but if you like bright, then still grab EW200, better value

-Versus OG it’s much brighter and more “resolving” since the OG was slightly warm leaning
-Bass quality is the same, maybe with sharper attack to the notes, but overall separation and layering is similar with the difference being in the clarity and sharper transients

Other comparisons:
-If you want a smoother and clean sound go Artti R2
-If you a bright leaning sound with better tech and don’t mind planar go T10
-Want bass? Artti R1 or OG Delci are still solid
-Check the vid for comparisons with S08, DUDU, Titan S2
-EA500LM still better overall if you don’t mind the unit variations in the uppermids/treble

Final Ranking:
Tonality: B+/A- (5.5 to 6.5/10)
Tech: B+ (5.5/10)
Overall: B+ 5.5/10

Thanks for reading!

Pilgrim Noir:

Better than OG, smoother and fuller with similar tech, but not $400 more Effect :joy:

They lucky we’re not releasing the prototype version, would’ve ran circles around it for less than half the price:

That 4K Elevation was really needed.

Hell, DaVinci vs. Noir looks like a shout already (and it’s rather SA6-like. Elysian takes on DUNU!!!)

imo, everything DUNU had to do was done (fixed) by Myer Audio. Other times they may be asked how to tune their next IEM :smiling_face_with_tear:

Volare also fixed some oddities in DUNU’s FR. Well done Volare

Senn also rubbed DUNU’s nose with successful tuning and broadband DD… :no_mouth:

I will not continue with the comparisons, one can see a company doing something…

Dunu has a specific philosophy for its mid-to-upper range IEMs. Definitely either a you’re in or you’re out type of tuning. It’s all good

Guess I’m out then  (except the SA6U)

Yes. I know, but still.

I was also noticing the treble boost is one of the types that I tend to like. Not sure why but when the high point is before 5k, and then stays lower until at least 8k, it usually gives detail without altering timber or being too harsh.

For example, the Tangzu Nv did the peak earlier, but with far less bass, and it was just a bit of bass away from being a very good set. If you add a little bass shelf that set is really nice, and I should try a tape mod on it, since that is what got my EA500 to a better place for my tastes.

BLIND CABLE A/B TEST WITH THE BOYS!!

Obviously this is the most scientifically accurate test and definitely not just for fun :eyes:

Do the same for dacs and then amps. :joy:

Interesting. Generalizing copper vs silver results to mean there is no difference for all cables for a p<0.01 is hyperbole though.

Sometimes I hear a difference with cables and IEMs (usually going balanced with DD IEMs) and some of the time I don’t. I only hear what I hear or don’t hear what I don’t hear.

I buy replacement cables mainly for comfort.
