YUP

I’m not hearing any pass through effect or anything, seals good lol

Then unless that render is a flat out lie. Then i can think of 2 things, one is that the “precision filter mesh” is way too dense to actually let enough air flow out and/or due to the back of the DD being covered in that chamber with just a tiny vent left open it is restricting the airflow too much.

This is assuming that the render is correct though…

Sounds like gimmick confirmed as just that, a gimmick.

Yet again chifi cannot replicate what sony did over a decade ago lol.

The most open iem I remember from Chifi would be the Dunu Falcon Pro and that one is only semi-open and not too much at that even…

Could be both, but also could be just a gimmick like guy said lol

I think the driver isn’t big enough on IEMs to notice a major difference like vs open back headphones for example

It does sound airy, but that’s mostly due to the peak probably, not sharp or anything tho

Just looks like a design failure to me. (or they are fucking lying with the render…)

hmmm, i dont think the driver size would make the difference less IF the design had actually worked.

I feel like I remember the Dunu VERNUS being more of a true “open back” than the Falcon Pro & Ultra, despite them appearing to have the same housings. VERNUS had zero isolation, but it also had a true open back presentation which was very unique in an IEM. Kinda wish I still had mine…

The design looks the same from the outside so the filters must have been less dense.

iirc, the falcon pro was only below average isolation for an iem, not ZERO like the EX800st (which is more like an earbud).

I wanna take off the mesh and find out lol

that housing design gonna trigger some ppl with trypophobia

Well, if you do wanna dissect it, you need to heat the shell up near the faceplate and then pry it open. (use a hair dryer for example.)

This is not a fail safe thing to do though, so be aware of the risks.

I had the Ultra as well as the VERNUS, and yeah, Ultra just had mediocre isolation and didn’t really feel open from a listening standpoint. VERNUS was a whole other thing.

It honestly sounds fine, pretty airy smooth at mid volume, you definitely hear the peak once you crank it up, but it’s a pretty chill listen so far

Gotcha, thanks for the tip

Cool af.

For science, pls do open it up and check what happens when u remove the filter. Worst case that can happen is that the DD (diaphragm or VC) could be damaged by the heat and u have a dead DD but at least u should be able to remove the filter and check isolation difference.

You do need glue to glue it back on though, get something from Zhanlida.

Wait, are we reviewing graphs now??

I actually do like your reviews and the way you describe sound in IEMs. But saying that Gaea is one way solely based on how it graphs is a stretch.

We all know that two IEMs who graph the same may sound different. Plus our ears anatomy and subjectivity is all different.

To the mods on this forum, users who are cussing at people should be removed. We would not tolerate this irl, why is it ok here.
There is so much negativity, agressivity and 1st world problem-ness on HFGF these days that it makes it very infuriating and not enjoyable anymore.

Stop. I’m not. I’ve heard Gaea 3 separate times, it’s really aggressive. I had ringing in my ears afterwards. I even made a review on it. If you ever get the chance go listen to it. End of discussion.

If you want to ban people for speech then that’s a slippery line. Feel free to debate freedom of speech elsewhere, this is an IEM thread.

And here you are trying to start something with that picture^
