Then unless that render is a flat out lie. Then i can think of 2 things, one is that the “precision filter mesh” is way too dense to actually let enough air flow out and/or due to the back of the DD being covered in that chamber with just a tiny vent left open it is restricting the airflow too much.
This is assuming that the render is correct though…
I feel like I remember the Dunu VERNUS being more of a true “open back” than the Falcon Pro & Ultra, despite them appearing to have the same housings. VERNUS had zero isolation, but it also had a true open back presentation which was very unique in an IEM. Kinda wish I still had mine…
I had the Ultra as well as the VERNUS, and yeah, Ultra just had mediocre isolation and didn’t really feel open from a listening standpoint. VERNUS was a whole other thing.
For science, pls do open it up and check what happens when u remove the filter. Worst case that can happen is that the DD (diaphragm or VC) could be damaged by the heat and u have a dead DD but at least u should be able to remove the filter and check isolation difference.
You do need glue to glue it back on though, get something from Zhanlida.
I actually do like your reviews and the way you describe sound in IEMs. But saying that Gaea is one way solely based on how it graphs is a stretch.
We all know that two IEMs who graph the same may sound different. Plus our ears anatomy and subjectivity is all different.
To the mods on this forum, users who are cussing at people should be removed. We would not tolerate this irl, why is it ok here.
There is so much negativity, agressivity and 1st world problem-ness on HFGF these days that it makes it very infuriating and not enjoyable anymore.
Stop. I’m not. I’ve heard Gaea 3 separate times, it’s really aggressive. I had ringing in my ears afterwards. I even made a review on it. If you ever get the chance go listen to it. End of discussion.
If you want to ban people for speech then that’s a slippery line. Feel free to debate freedom of speech elsewhere, this is an IEM thread.
I did notice that his comparison was missing, but maybe he just didn’t think it was similar to other things he liked. He does tend to find things near to the tuning, and Estrella is a bit different from Mark’s standard preferred tuning. He usually likes stuff in the bright neutral range, which is not how I would describe Estrella.
