oh I figured it was a silent collab since he named it. could be wrong
Selfish? How so?
So overall thoughts on the Anvil so far after 3 hours of A/Bing:
- Bass has the slam and impact, it’s forward in the mix, but it’s smooth and not very tactile
- BCD does nothing in the low-end, no extended reverb or extra vibration/tactility
- BCD is noticeable in the uppermids/treble, things feel sharper and more jaggity, which may be the cause of the graininess
- Vocals needs more gain due to the forward mid-bass, resulting them in being a little muffled, not as bad as 5+2, but not ideal
- Staging is very in-your-head kind of feeling, noticeably less wide compared to D62 and 5+2
- Over resolution and tech is ok for the price, slightly behind 5+2, and a tier behind the D62
- Sancai wides help reduce the treble graininess on the Anvil, but it’s not as smooth as the D62 with sancai wides (which is not as smooth as sets with sonions in them)
- It’s basically a failed copy of the Tea Pros, worse tuned, and worse quality drivers
Overall, I’d recommend to go for the D62 as it’s not only cleaner, better low-end, clearer vocals, wider stage, more technical, but the overall balance works better as a mid-volume dynamic set.
Note, all 3 of these sets are loans from friends, and I’m not affiliated to drop a favorable impression
I got S08 and YuXuanJi this 11.11 and heard they are gonna do another promo with black friday so now im eyeing XuanNV, EW300, Vivace, QKZxHBB and Celest Qing lol. Once I tried all different tunings then I can safely go up in price next year. Also very interested in MagicOne and Explorer but considering I got S08 already I dont think I will get it.
Bro just use EQ if you want to try the tuning haha
Ah thats true. But how comparable do you think is the real thing compared to an EQ’ed iem? Based solely on the tuning. Also I usually used squig autoeq with wavelet for that but sometimes its hard to find one database that has all the graph XD
Pretty close, like 80-90% depending on which IEM you’re using to EQ, but definitely close enough to not need to buy ones just to try imo
I will try with my S08 the. It should be good enough to take an eq. Thanks man!
I also did that when I first started, and once I learned my own preferences, I went up a price bracket or two. I started early in the pandemic, and the $50 sets today can compete with the $150 sets of 4 years ago.
I find that planar IEMs take EQ way better than DD sets. During the early planar wars period ( 2021-22 ) when the Timeless and S12 were coming out, they were a great way to test other tunings. So I have to assume the S08 would do this too.
I am on Android, and I highly recommend Wavelet for that. The king of EQ on PC is still the APO with Peace UI combo. I will say that while cheap, EQ can become another hobby.
Yeah I’m a bit familiar with wavelet and APO/Peace UI. I eq’ed my Nuo to the S08 hence my decision to get it instead of the s12 pro. Linsoul just confirmed another round of discount code so there goes my money again i guess XD
Same. Eyeing the QoA Adonis New - if they do a black Friday sale and an LEC code, I’m in.
What and why is there hype around Tea Pro? Im curious smh!!
It’s a pretty good meta-tuned all arounder. Not much more to it than that
Goober said it. XENNS does good to great gear and folks that have it are still enjoying it.
I hve the top & tea2.both are dopeAF. That reminds me I need to listen to tea2.
I have the OG Tea and Tea2, and they were my two favorites until Doscinco and Explorer came out this year.
Wait, wut!? Something that looks interesting from Kinera? (QOA = Kinera)
Wow
Adonis New is freaking gorgeous. I’m so on board for it (have been for a while) but lot of potential good sales. It’s on sale for 20% right now and eyeing the Linsoul $50 code now.
