JAY's audio memes (and reviews/ranking too I guess)

I could be wrong, but I think it’s just the graph label; the Volume S has a dial for changing the Impedance/FR and I think that’s what’s measured there.

Bruh, I completely missed the switch until you mentioned it

@rattlingblanketwoman it’s noticeable, maybe even more if I try the switches lol

What’s the USB-C then? Did you run an EQ or just testing the different termination?

USBC gave it a little sub-bass boost, I had EQ off, but holy moly whoever designed the switch was definitely on some good good - bro wasn’t cooking… he was cooked

  1. The switches don’t match, meaning instead of having both the right and left be at the same placement like this and getting the same tuning on both side

Instead you need it in the opposite direction to have it channel matched :skull: :joy:

Or else you end up getting 2 different tunings even though the switch placement are the same on both sides :skull:

Also, there’s no indicator to know where to stop so you have to be pretty precise on both, either 1 way or the other, going in-between will give you inaccurate channel matching unless you’re very precise :skull:

And it’s also not very visible (I completely missed it in dim lightning until you told me)

But that aside… the Volume S is a great vocal set so far :+1:

That is some BS.

Its the same “passive” meme implementation that the other iem (forgot the name) has.

Dont really care as long as it sounds good, and it does

Both shenzhenaudio and hifigo is using this, its false marketing.

Fortunately it seems that Softears themselves arent doing that.

From softears themselves

Yes they dont call it a “2DD” iem like hifigo and shenzhen does and clearly says it is a single active driver and then a passive one (if we ignore how much of a meme that implementation is).

I mean

LOL

It’s whatever, just marketing stuff, good thing they pulled through with the sound

No it isnt whatever when they are clearly bullshiting…dont defend stuff like this it aint cool.

Here is one being clear.
And another not.

You’re claiming that the other DD doesn’t do anything when you haven’t heard it or measured it yet.

It sounds good. End of story.

I already went over why with the other iem that did this before.

Right here.

DZ4 perhaps? Dynaquattro too I think?

Are they saying dampener = DD?

its the Dynaquattroa.

Yes, its BS.

That one is different and while there was some issues with their implementation, it does do something and isnt bs.

I’m glad the result is good, but they shouldn’t deceive someone that their money is going into more transducers than it is or has a hint of isobaric character or what have you

You know what, I’m gonna ask them and see what they say.

Exactly.

Need to stop them fast or you are just gonna get more like this and then it be that much harder to know which is legit, especially when the majority of iems dont show any internal pics. (there are also those that show internal pics but they end up being false…)

Yeah, their own instructions kinda had me scratching my head on the positions of the switches; I had assumed that there were stops or detents inside the shell that made the end positions obvious but apparently I’m wrong:

@Rikudou_Goku It’s a silly claim for the marketers to call that setup 2DD but Chi-fi gonna Chi-fi. I do hope that reviewers call that mess out (and honestly Softears should discourage it since it’s misrepresentation of their design and product).

100%!

Its very fortunate that softears aint the one doing this…they avoided the shame list. :joy:
